Hey. I was wondering if there is a date for BFA becoming part of the subscription yet? I have lots of new players joining my guild for the expansion and I would love for them not to have to pay 89 dollars to play. I was hoping they could still play prepatch without having to pay this quite rediculous amount if you consider the subscription fee on top.
No date as of yet. Likely to become part of sub with SL if not on sale at least. You should be able to participate in prepatch as it affects the base game not BfA.
Does this however mean that they have cannot level to 50 and be there at launch to enter the shadowlands without having bought BFA at full price?
I honestly don’t know. I think they should be able to level to 50 due to chromie time and thus you don’t need BfA but they won’t be able to pre-purchase SL so would have to buy it soon as it was released.
So yes, they need to have BFA on their account
There is always a date when The previous expansion goes into the subscription and is no longer required to purchase.
I do however not know when this normally happens.
That’s only for pre-patch.
Edit: Pre-order*
Battle for Azeroth is not included with the Shadowlands pre-purchase.
Not pre-patch, everyone will get that
Derp typo. Pre-order*
Anyway OP I did a google and Legion became free the day BfA pre-patch was live, so not long to wait to find out.
Alright thanks Nimrhys. Crossing my fingers
I imagine it will be free with the sub when the pre patch comes live. Exiles reach is basically meant as a prelude to BfA (the starter zone literally ends with the beginning of BfA). Since Exiles reach is meant for new players, if BfA wasn’t included in the sub then that would ruin the intended fluidity (especially because new players are required to play BfA first).
So unless Blizz actually makes like an error, it’s almost definitively here on pre patch.
That makes a lot of sense. Cheers
Dont forget to use recruit a friend with them
Blizzard can see how many people never bothered to buy BfA and I have a strong feeling they are not feeling charitable towards players who never bothered to try out BfA and simply quit in Legion.
Wait for pre-patch to be sure but I don’t think they’re going to be giving BfA away for free this time. Just because you have to play BfA after Exile’s Reach it does not mean that it’s going to be free. Try to look at it from another perspective instead… since BfA is very clearly so important in Blizzard’s eyes for new players to have to do BfA they’ll probably expect you to pay for it.
Nobody knows when or if they’ll do it. I think they will, but sometimes it’s been at pre-patch, sometimes it’s been at new expansion launch and I think the first time they did it, it was about halfway through the new expansion. I don’t think it’ll be the latter, but we’ll just have to wait and see. They never announce things like this in advance.
