Is it just me or does the BFA dungeon experience, from level 50 to 60, feel like you’re doing them as if they were Mythic+?
Just the overall processing speed and even the health & dmg of mobs and bosses, seems way out of tune for what they were like back when BFA was the latest expansion.
A little confused as to the reasoning for the way they’ve been tuned.
I just feel like doing Shadowlands content to get to level 60, rather than the pain caused by the dungeons prior to Dragonflight at the moment.
I see the developers are talking about nerfing tanks, this, that and the other. But no mention of reviewing the scaling of dungeons prior to DF and as to why they feel so out of place.
I’m just going to skip the dungeons from 50 to 60 and go through the Shadowlands content.
As least I can do that at my own pace (sure it won’t be as fast), but at least I don’t have to get annoyed at how a boss, which was easy to face tank in BFA, is now almost 1 shotting me xD
I’ve actually noticed the same thing yesterday in a classic dungeon. Don’t expect it to be because of us doing all that badly, but the water elemental boss from Maraudon took about 5 minutes to take down for example. Felt really strange, and I know that the others have noticed it too as they were mentioning it.
Yeah, no clue what Blizzard is doing with their QA team, when it comes to testing the content prior to its release and even this situation, which I highly expect has been talked about on streams, when people are leveling an alt or other means of information distribution.
But there is indeed an issue, that needs to be looked into and resolved.
It doesn’t stop people from playing, but it’s something that does show something was overlooked when it came to the release and tuning for Dragonflight.
When a tank can solo a Dragonflight dungeon, but get killed by a pack of 3 to 4 adds in a BFA and below dungeon… you know someone screwed up on that testing aspect of the systems.
You may indeed be correct on that side, but still there are issues that you can not overlook or redirect to be related to something else.
But if those dungeons mean you should be x ilvl to enter, then shouldn’t the system put a restriction in place, like it does before you can even enter a heroic?
Just common sense to me. (but going Shadowlands, as I never got around to doing that, as I stopped playing before its release. When I get to ilvl 140+, I’ll give it another try).
In relation to Lutia’s question, you’re also correct. With the layoffs that took place at Blizzard HQ in the United States, it really did lower the bar of polish.
(remember European QA never tested, it was more in relation to translation of game content and maybe to assist with some minor testing, which the QA team in the US never had time to focus on).
Nah, I was in BfA dungeon with a full party of 50+ and everyone with average ilvl of 150+, and it was a struggle. The charge attack in Shrine on the first boss was doing solid 60-80% of health of anyone who got hit by it, every boss took solid 6-8 minutes to kill, and some named trash mobs took as long as bosses do in other expansions. Even the mobs you need to kill during the add phase on final boss took maybe a minute-ish to kill, with Consume Essence doing ~40% of hp of anyone who got hit.
BfA dungeon scaling, at the very least at lvls 50-60 is definitely out of whack.
Edit: to add to this, while I may not be exactly the best healer (I was runnign these as a hpal), immediately after I ran a few Shadowlands dungeons in the same gear and it all went perfectly fine. I even ended up pulling extra packs for the tank so I could feel like more than just crappy DPS in Halls of Atonement.
I tried the BfA dungeons in Chromie time while leveling and it was horrible, couldn’t even get past the first boss in AD and not even going to mention the chaos in Shrine. Just bad. Swapped to a different expansion quite fast.
I can confirm this. My level 57 Protection BE Warrior joined Shrine of Storms, mid run (Tank quit). 3 bosses left to kill.
On the way to the boss composed by 2 NPCs my party kept being killed by AoE from trash on the courtyard, even though I was pulling as slowly as I could. Luckily Tanks have been buffed so I managed to solo them.
Doing BC during Winter 2020-21, stopping at 50, continuing now. You can see her old gear on the right hand side, item level 76. Her secondary stats were, and still are laughable, and it takes 8 spells to down an enemy (which I enjoy, but Aphella needs 3-4). Of particular import, note her new 178 belt - 64 stamina over Aphandra’s 25. (Dungeon reward from Steamvaults. Gloves suggest 35, still almost twice as much.) https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/arathor/Calisandra
Another thing, it appears that CT dungeons in general scale to 50. In BC, you can queue for four dungeons, but once in, you’re scaled to 50 and then you can keep queuing for everything.
