EDIT of EDIT: Insufficient available data… only one scan entry for alliance side… 115 at around 01 in the morning.
EDIT of EDITed EDIT: Going to check alternative sources…
Additional EDIT: Crossrefencing and reverse engineering Silvermoon data (110 at 01 horde side, 302+ prime time peak) and some outside notes… I am going to guess, possibly closer to 300 than 500.
@Retributor: That part is less likely… On Silvermoon, of the known horde 20s (65) about half are allied races, so not on Starter accounts. Even on bigger level… of the currently known 5 694 level 20s in EU over 3 200 are allied races.
Thoroughly fix classes and faction imbalance so this game has got something to build upon and then introduce pristine realms. Perhaps later on turn it into some hardcore version of the game.
That would be a good start. From there its all about tweaks.
Saying that classes need to be fixed implies that they are broken. I watched Method’s Twitch stream last night – none of their classes appeared broken. Maybe it’s just you?
Fixing faction imbalance is also not something that can be done with the wave of a magic wand. At the end of the day you cannot force people to play a faction they don’t want to play. If more people want to play Horde than Alliance, then that’s ultimately the reality WoW will be structured around.
Not sure what’s meant by Pristine realms. Some kind of community idea concept?
no it was not, heck in beta and alpha there was no pvp at all, pvp servers came becuse people wanted them, Blizzard where not gona make them at first at all, there was no bgs eighter, they came later, and wow been unbalanced in pvp ever since.
Method does not play his game for fun, but for results and performance. And if one wants that, got to go for the best there is aka faction and fun is no longer a goal in any way. Classes should be designed to be fun, not around hignend players. This goes for classes and factions.
Faction imbalance can be fixed at any they choose, question is do they want to.
Current state of the game says something about the game itself just as the shop mounts they’ve added.
Him - And everyone who’s main focus in the game is PvP.
It’s easy to just focus on PvE and say “idk what these people are saying my class is just as good as it used to be” when all the utility and functionality that has been pruned doesn’t really affect PvE for the most part, other than perhaps adding variety in outdoor content.
Sure, I can get behind that. But that doesn’t mean they’re broken in their current state, but rather that you don’t consider them especially fun to play.
Broken kind of implies that things aren’t working.
You press an ability and the game crashes? Broken.
You press a button and you fall asleep? Boring.
They’re different issues.
How? I mean, if you look at Warmode, then Blizzard have made numerous attempts to try and restore a semblance of faction balance there – with some success – but it’s definitely not without controversy or complaints from the playerbase.
Solving faction balance in general is not a matter of will so much as it’s a matter of solution. In my mind I cannot think of anything that just “fixes it”.
Same applies. Lots of PvPers do PvP every single day, and have managed to do just fine throughout all of BfA. You’ll see the usual forum complaints and criticism, sure, but the whole PvP gameplay seems to run as per usual – as it always has done.
It “runs” in the sense that the best players continue to be the best and the game still facilitates their interests to an extent because the teamplay/coordination aspect and class synergies still exist in the game.
The casual and semi-casual mid-tier playerbase is the one getting shafted the most by the current design path.
That’s the bracket that’s being bled dry by unrewarding casual level pvp and simplified class toolkits.
I’m saying that you say that the PvP seems to ‘run just fine’ - which it does, if you just look at high levels of gameplay, but you really start to see the struggles within the current PvP scene when you go a few pegs below Glad cutoff.
It simply doesn’t offer enough fun and rewards to a mid-tier player, you’re better off if you transition into only PvE or just quit the game.
Ah sure. I completely agree with that. But I’ve had numerous discussions on the PvP forums about that over the years, advocating to make PvP more generous with rewards and accessible and engaging for the average user. But every single time I’m met with a furious outcry from the so-called PvP community who just wants to drill down this idealized PvP environment that’s about skill and eSport and prestige and completely inaccessible to newbies and casuals and PvEers and what not.
So I don’t think that problem resides with Blizzard. It stems from the fact that the PvP community (or the vocal part of it) goes absolutely bananas the moment something goes against their desires. Hence PvP sees very little change in its fundamental design, because the PvP community vehemently objects to almost all changes.
