BFA flight paths and alts!

What’s the deal with flight paths on alts in BFA? I bought the map thing from the 7th Legion rep vendor to activate flight paths so I can do world quests but half of the flight paths have no person there so when the whistle takes me to the flight path it’s completely useless to me, I’m stuck at a flight point I can’t use. Do I really have to quest in order to be able to use flight points on alts? :unamused::thinking:

I guess it’s places where the NPCs need to set up their camp or base first, which they subsequently do as part of the questing experience. A few places in Drustvar and Tiragarde Sound comes to mind.
So yeah, in that regard there probably isn’t any way around the questing.

It seems like a bit on an oversight on Blizzards part…

If I pay for a map to unlock flight paths you would think that they could at least have an NPC there so that I can actually use the flight paths that the map has unlocked.

I thought the map was so I didn’t have to complete the zones. If I still have to quest the entire zone in order to use all the flight paths then what exactly is the point in the map?

I’ve completed all the BFA zones already on this mage and it was great fun the first time but repeating it all over again on each alt is not something that I want to do.

It makes no sense at all for them to add a map to unlock flight paths and not make them all usable.

#FakeMaps
It’s a scam to make the (Honorbound/7th Legion) rich.
They must be in cahoots.

If you know the flight path name, maybe you can find the specific quest chain? At least then you may be able to avoid a large chunk of quests.

edit: but yes, there should be somebody to use, even if its not the same as if you had done the quests.

Yeah, kinda annoying when i get sent to a flightpoint with no npc on my alt. Anyport and one other in drustvar at least.

In the description it says “several flight paths” not “all flight paths”. You still need to unlock the quest ones.

Map costs like 75g, I think it serves it’s purpose, to get you to location you need to be in. Having to do quest though to unlock that camp is logical.

“it’s only logical” still boring as it can be. the idea of having to do on every single char the same damn quests just to unlock a fp makes me throw up.

Adding map is getting out of the way to make player’s lives easier, asking for quest progress too is just bleh. Like getting a free chocolate cake and saying “Where’s the cream?”.

It is a bit sad. I changed main and I am missing definitely some flightpaths. I am 3/8 chapters of zandalar but everything else is 0. I just live around it, or go less in the open world. I am more a team player anyway, so that is my content. Whatever world

The flight paths that it unlocks are only those known to your account.

i.e. you have to have had one character go through the quest chains to discover and set-up the camps for them to available to alts.

It will not help discover flight paths for different factions. i.e. I main a Horde character I still had to do the quests on my Alliance alt as they were not discovered.

Then there are a couple places where the flight master only becomes available after completing a quest line. Gold Tusk inn in Vol’dun springs to mind. It appears on the flight map when an alt uses the map, but you can’t fly there until you activate the flight master. There is probably an Alliance version as well.

No it doesn’t. I did all the chapters on my legion-main Shaman (horde) first and I had all the flightpaths. Now on my new main (this char) I am missing at least a vol’dun (the cave one) flightpath and in nazmir the one of the goblin top left. And lets not start about the alliance isle…

yesss so annoying! and its quite a long way to ride if your heartstone is on cooldown -.-

Dont mind having to unlock the fp with quests, just wish the whistle didnt send me to a place with no unlocked fp

There is. At least 2 in drustvar. I wonder why they can be opened via achievement.

Still, i’m not going to bother with the quests again. The map gives reasonable alternatives, and the damn pathfinder 2 will solve the issue in a few months.

Hearthstone

Exactly this. If I can’t use the flight path then don’t have the whistle drop me off there. This happened to me twice with two different flight paths while doing world quest in Drustvar. One of the flight paths is completely out of the way of everything and I ended up going afk for eleven minutes while my hearthstone cool down ended because it seemed easier than running around the distance it would of taken to reach my destination.

Surely if we buy the map then we should to be able to use all the flight paths made available by it? If not then just remove those flight paths from the map or make it so the whistle doesn’t take us to them.

Drustvar has been a pain for those kinds of flightpaths. I was hoping if I unlock everything on my main all the alts would get those flightpaths in full working order but I’ve not maxed another Ally yet to put it to the test.

If my memory serves me right there will be some flight points that aren’t available initially due to them being unlocked as part of the war campaign quests. I do agree, however, that the whistle sending you to a flight path that isn’t unlocked on your particular character shouldn’t happen.
