I’m just gonna leave this here
It’s because the forsaken starting zone was revamped in Cataclysm.
Look at night elf starting zone. It’s the same C as it has always been.
BTW classic forsaken start made no sense. Like, WHO RAISED YOU? You just, idk, magically appeared inside a crypt, with a single way out… Not really a great start of a story.
At least in Cata rework, it felt like you were a part of something that was going on.
Caster weapons in WoW nowadays are just stat sticks. You don’t EVER use them.
The armor issue was created by the last STAT SQUISH that essentially made everything below level 100 INCONSEQUENTIAL. I often wore items 30 levels below mine because the “upgrades” were so painfully low that it felt like a waste of time to equip them, just for that 1 more point of stamina or strength. Heck you can probably wear DK starting armor till lvl 85+ without noticing any difference. Especially since half of your gear slots are covered with Heirlooms that scale automatically. DK gear was scaled very weirdly and has 3-5 more STR on every piece than any other armor of similar ilvl, so if you don’t mind a wee bit lower stamina, by STR alone that gear is good enough all the way till you get into Draenor (and possibly whole Draenor too, only losing power to Legion items)
Well at least give us your thoughts.
I mean, I agree with the video maker - but I can also understand why the game (had to change). But Blizz gave us both so what’s not to like now?
I like classic more than BfA, but there’s too much for me to do in BfA before Shadowlands that I don’t have the time to enjoy classic.
Maybe if you read quest text you’ll be more informed.
“About time you woke up, we were ready to toss you into the fire with the others but it looks like you made it. I am Mordo, the caretaker of the crypt of Deathknell and you are the Lich King’s slave no longer…”
I agree with Nixxiom. I find levelling extremely boring and it’s way too linear. Basically just shunting you from zone to zone, whereas Classic you travel all over the place and you’re never truly finished with a zone
Unfortunately, When it comes to Nixxiom, He’s as nostalgia fueled as you can possibly be. Him saying classic is more enjoyable is basically the equivalent of Ion praising wow. You don’t expect anything else.
He and other like minded people are more than welcome to enjoy classic more.
But not everyone wants the slow pace, read 50 lines to understand what to do quests of classic. If i’m interested in the lore, I’ll learn it myself. I don’t need them to force feed me the lore. Which is why, i know what i liked to know and don’t know about half the old zones because i simply didn’t care.
You mean helping:
- Rambo
- Don quichot
- CSI
- Humans vs orcs as a quest
As for the other quests, almost all of them are vanilla questlines with some streamlining and removal of cross-zone travel. Basically dumbing down the quests.
There are a few new ones that are nice, such as the mandokir questline or the battle for andorhal.
For me, the cata revamp ruined more zones than that it added to.
Dumb trope based stories, bad terrain design, it’s an “active” terrain. It is involved in the story, and doesn’t fit the narrative anymore.
No more feeling you’re on a grand quest that brings you to multiple zones.
To be fair, vanilla had/has terrible quest rewards for these grand quests. Getting nothing but a few coins for travelling all over the world.
I love Nixxiom, but this is just a classic bait thread. It’s not even worth watching because the video topic is 100% biased towards classic. I know it, he knows it, we all know it.
Everyone knows BFA has bad leveling, nobody argues if BFA leveling is better than classic. BFA isn’t about leveling.
WoW has not been about the level experience since… what, MoP? Maybe earlier?
You won’t see him do a “1 month of playing end game every day - my thoughts” video, because he knows classic WoW end game sucks.
Times change, I love classic WoW, but to judge WoW based on the first hour of leveling is so disingenuous to the “open debate” that he claims to be expanding upon.
Such a pointless video.
And yet its what new players base the game on. First impression= levelling
Actually no, it is not.
You are given (and highly encouraged) to use the “free” 120 boost.
Yeah, it’s so much fun and engaging cleaning 3 times the same damn forest or obliterate 3 different races of bear, boar, murloc, [insert literaly any Azeroth living being]
I levelled one character to 60 on classic and it was the most boring experience ever. Then I did only one dungeon and holy Lady Gaga, I was falling asleep. Never again.
These days you can break down these type of “classic vs BFA” videos in a paint by numbers fashion. Basically pretending that every little annoyance in classic was this extremely fun element of brilliant game design.
Actually you are finished with most zones and is that a good thing? I played some classic, got to 60 relatively fast but most of the time it was boring as hell. I seriously don’t understand how, after the release of Classic, anyone can be so mindless in order to complain that BFA leveling is boring.
There was a stage in classic where i took ~4 hours per level and out of that like half of it was just traveling. A large chunk of classic leveling is a walking simulator and while it could be fascinating for someone playing it for the first time and discovering the zones, it’s extremely boring for everyone else.
Doesn’t this random come back to make a BFA video every 3 months when his views go down again?
Comments under the video are turbocringe too, lots of neeks with no worthwhile opinions, yikes.
Originally they made WoW for fun before it became more competitive in tbc so when players prefer it it’s for nostalgic reasons and just having fun.
Classic doesn’t really have the same feeling anymore since most of us are not noobs anymore, we have addons that tells us what to do and we know where to find them almost every single one of us.
When we first started to enter the world of warcraft we knew nothing witch made it an adventure, it’s not really the same adventure with youtube tutorials and addons that tells us anything we want to know about the game.
Everything is just so much smoother in BfA even if a lot of you think it’s a bad expansion.
The only good Nixxion is the Machinima Nixxion, he don’t understand how gaming design work all that much and is extremely biased towards classic.
Like, making a video comparing BfA to Classic while playing on Cataclysm content in the “BfA” is so out of context.
BfA might be a pile of junk, but Retail is just a better game than Classic regardless of how bad the current expansion is.
As much as I prefer the Talent System in Classic, I don’t fancy the idea of ever perpetually stagnating in old content forever with no new content to look forward to…
so its work over fun? I dont get it. Play whats gives you most joy, this is why games exist.
Vanilla WoW came out in a vastly different time period when it came to MMO RPG’s
It was THE casual game on the market and that’s why it gained so much traction.
What was there to offer before Vanilla?
-Almost complete lack of questing. Leveling was done predominantly by endlessly grinding the mobs
-High death penalties, exp losses, sometimes a death would put you back by days worth of progression.
-Grinds that make Rank 14 Vanilla grind look tame and doable. Crafting recipes that demanded rare, high-end reagents and had only a small chance of producing what you wanted.
-And then you could get killed by another player who could LOOT that rare and hard-grinded item you had from your corpse!!!
-Grinds like Jedi class in SW Galaxies, this was insane (far worse than any WoW grind, i think its worse than all worst WoW grinds combined!), some people actually made it only to find out that their rewards…sucks. Simply is bad xD So bad it’s nearly unplayable.
It was a hostile environment demanding massive time commitments, far exceeding anything seen in World of Warcraft. WoW brought the middle ground into that, it casualized the genre. Ye, the 2005 version of WoW -WAS- casual!
And current wow? Honestly, it’s a product that cannot decide what it wants to be. It’s accessible to the point of any solo and queable content to be doable with a blindfold, yet at the min/maxer end it’s really, really grindy. Many systems that make it very difficult or even impossible to switch class.
