Big mistake changing to Defias Brotherhood?

Hello all,

Casual player (casual as in a possible 3 hours commitment/day), I stayed on Khaz Modan where I created most of my toons.

It is an fr server. As I play the game in English, it was kind of pain.
Also, I thought it was not populated enough,
And finally, I play now mainly for open PVP. PVEing while killing faction enemies or raid Stormwind with random fellows or …
But Khaz Modan is a beginner server, no guild there that do that. And I really like to do it.

I finally moved to Defias Brotherhood in September after months of hesitation and checking (and years of suffering before).

And then Classic came I guess?

  • Argent Dawn shard?
The realm is dead empty compare to Khaz Modan … Every reasons I had to change realm failed miserably.
    Totally hilarious.

I literally stop playing.

So I just go to Classic?
I clearly remember playing Reign of Chaos … before realizing than drinking and partying was more fun (to me).
Then WoW got me out of that later.
So classic: really? meh

Or is there another retail realm out there that STILL has active PvP players?

Please help, I want to play.

Thanks!

Defias brotherhood will repopulate once people get bored of classic and 8.3/ 9.0/ even just expansion announcement drops.

I started a horde on defias brotherhood and can confirm it is very quiet. I’ll pick it up again once I see more details at blizzcon

I played in defias for a very long time and right now it has the lowest population it ever had. I don’t really think it gonna change anytime soon btw wow classic is much more addictive than any other game I ever played.

You are not on Defias in war mode, if that’s what you meant by open pvp. You’re on an rp war mode shard.

I was on Defias at start of bfa, and zones were empty. I moved to a normal realm soon after, and zones have much better population in normal wm shards.

So it’s nothing to do with the realm, it’s the realm type that matters. Normal or rp. If you meant wm for open pvp.

If you like pvp…

I changed from defias, later on in bfa the citys have been lacking with People, and most guilds died and the rest Just moved on to AD or a normal realm.
If you want WPvP i would go horde on RP realm, i personaly had a hard time finding horde because of the sh!t phasing and LFG.

Defias used to be a really good and well Balanced pvp server, but now like every other server, its pretty dead :frowning:

Defias Brotherhood and all other RP realms were pooled together as of BfA, but considering AD is the only one with a semi-healthy population, it was already too late.

The server was bleeding numbers as of WoD and it never stopped. Now it’s mostly Polish people.

Furthermore, the “sharding” only happens during War Mode activation. You’ll quickly come to realize that Argent Dawn’s alliance population alone, vastly outnumbers all horde populations combined.

Defias Brotherhood is a connected realm linked with Ravenholdt, Scarshield Legion, Sporeggar, The Venture Co. It has roughly a 50/50 split when it comes to Horde/Alliance

Argent Dawn is a big RP realm and is not connected to any other. It has a bigger population on it’s own than all of those joined up RP servers I listed above. It is also 70% Alliance. So if you play Alliance on AD you are likely to see a lot more people around you.

If we take Realmpop data for it says that there are 177k Alliance on the conneced realms all together. That pales into comparison when looking at the 313k Alliance on AD.

If we take wowpopulation data which tries to look at activity rather than numbers of characters it shows that the connected set of realms that Defias Brotherhood is on has a total of 8.5k active players and around 4.5k of those are Alliance.

If we compare that to Argent Dawn it shows there are 17k active players of which 12k are Alliance.

So you can see how Defias might not actually be all that busy a server atm even with it’s connections. You also have to bear in mind that RP servers don’t tend to get CRZ with non RP servers. They avoid as much sharding as possible. War mode does not remove players to another shard, you’re all in together (unless that has changed since it was introduced).

I am on two of the busiest servers for my Horde (Draenor) and Alliance (Silvermoon) and they are all dominated by the faction I play on. It means I have a far better chance of being in a busy environment and see lots of others around me. Of course when I go out into the world I get sharded in with lots of other players either WM on or WM off.

Khaz Modan in comparison is a French Normal server and doesn’t have a huge population. Most of the ‘new player’ servers are usually like this. They tend to direct you to quiet ones.

This. And AFAICS the RP War Mode shard is less populated than normal WM shards.

Also wot Punyelf said.

Get a Horde from Draenor or Kazzak, or an Alliance from Silvermoon or Ravencrest or Outland, to invite you to party, and see what the War Mode population is like then.
