Black Dragonscale Backpack

Seems they’ve changed this cloak transmog piece to now hide any back-sheathed weapons you had equipped.

Since it didn’t do this before, all the way up until the most recent patch, do you think this is a bug or an intentional change that they’ll probably never revert?

Seems planned to me, all backpack (Or other non-cloak, like the Maldraxxus banner) mogs hide back-sheathed gear, even the trading post bandoliers, which don’t cause the clipping issues the other items do.

It was probably a bug which they just got around to fixing.

I doubt very much that Blizzard consider in such detail about how players might use an item like you have outlined.

Yeah, I was worried that it’d be a “correction” issue since it’s a bulkier backpiece. That said, I don’t really get what it and the trade post bandoliers even need hide pieces. It was nice before when the backpack did it - it’s like slotting your polearm through it!

I’d hope it’s a bug they’d fix. Though, yeah, it does feel like an issue that is similar to side-sheathing/back-sheathing requests. I’d love if they’d add it, and it doesn’t seem like they can’t do it. Just a case of “will they”.

I don’t understand why the bandoliers hide back-sheated gear, either.

I can see clipping issues being the reason for backpacks and stuff, and IMO they made the Wrathion backpack too big when they changed it (I can’t find any shoulderplates that don’t clip with it), still a bit double to have backpacks hide weapons when cloaks that extend lower than the waist clip with back-sheathed weapons too.

Better to make “Hide weapon(s) when sheathed) a toggle like the old “Hide headgear” we had before, appearance matters to a lot of people, so the more flexibility in that, the better.

I’m also one of those “fashion is 50% of your DPS output” appearance matters kind of players. It’s weird though, I kinda like the clipping of weapons through certain backpieces since it makes it more plausible that they’re attached.

Of course, can’t have a backpiece on with a bare chest, but that’d be were some of the floating backpieces come in. I’d love a “hide weapons when sheathed” option (alongside a back- and hip-sheath option) if it isn’t a case of coding conflicts.

Just a shame that it feels like Blizzard won’t do QoL stuff like this unless they are forced to. They’ll keep them in the “emergency” bin for when some massive crisis threatens player counts. I’d love to get this change implemented soon though! Haha

That’s why i never use backpack transmorgs becouse i wanna se my wep on back.

Ironically, any backpieces that do hide your weapons feels like a god-send for my Tauren. Some weapons just look way too off otherwise. Like a massive wing off to your side!

I play 1-hander fury, and 90% of 1-handers sheathe on the hip, so in that case backpacks are cool (Very “Adventurer”-like), but when i go Arms, i also avoid backpacks, a warrior (Or any melee-class, for that matter) without visible weapon just looks weird.

That’s why i’m disappointed that the bandolier-transmog also hides back-sheathed weapons, because it’s totally unnecessary, so it would be best to let players decide with an interface option whether to show back-sheathed weapons or not.
