Layer and amount of people for layer. It’s just too high. Classic wasn’t designed for so high amount of players per layer. Blizzard should reduce layer pop limit and make more layers. layer limit should be the same as it was in classic 2019-2021. Yes i know that blizz updated their servers and they are so proud that now layers can have 3 times much people then before, but it should be cap that is comfortable for players and game economy, not maximal techically possible cap.
Bots. Compared to classic their gph is much more then it was in 2019-2021. They are flyhacking in LBRS and making around 100-150 raw gold per hour each, so it injects a lot of gold to economy. So we have more raw gold in economy, and limited open world resources cost more gold
If they fix those 2 things (add more layers - like 8-10 and not shut down them at night also, and ban LBRS bots) all open world resources prices will drop 3-5 times with no need of any other changes
yeah those are definitely big issues, but one of the overarching ones is gold buying. I’m sorry but normal social players couldn’t be affording these inflated prices, there may be a few who can put in the hours of grinding necessary to farm up this gold but they’ll be the exception not the norm. The only way so many players could be affording the pricing at the moment is by paying for it with real money.
The solution to that aspect and which would likely fix the others is to permanently ban anyone who buys gold. They’ll never stop the bots, but if they start to mass perma-ban gold buying accounts and publicise these bans then people will be very wary about purchasing gold and the inflation will fall.
It needs a concerted approach from Blizzard, which means it will never happen.
It’s disheartening to be honest, and justifying playing the game is becoming harder and harder. A lot of the time now I run into these issues, get really down, know that nothing will be done about it, moan a bit and then just log off.
Crazy Idea:
Have you tried just not using flasks?
I mean… seriously… you NEED flasks for MC or BWL?
What exactly are you getting for flasks? You beat the raid 20 minutes earlier? What is the point of that? Do you dislike the other people so much, that you want to spend as little time as possible with them instead of playing the game with them?
The game has been solved by players 10 times better than you years ago. Nobody is impressed with parses. Nobody needs them. Just play the game, and when your guild tries to enforce that you need flasks to partake in raids, they clearly don’t value as a fellow player. Find a different guild. If they still want you there, and and enforce mandatory flasks, let them pay for it.
If your guild requires flask, your guild is the problem.
It is the 5th iteration of a 20 year old game. Competition is over years ago.
If you think there are only sweaty clowns and dad guilds and nothing between, you are wrong. Raiding without flask makes a guild not to a dad guild and instead a guild of people that play good but dont have time to farm 300g for flask. Basically guilds that you should look for to solve your problem.
To those saying, “just don’t use flasks”, that’s a moronic response that just enables gold traders to corner more markets.
A gold trader will have enough gold that they can just look at limited supply items (Essence of Water, Essence of Air, Righteous Orbs, Black Lotus, Arcane Crystals, etc.) buy these all up, massively inflate the price and force people down the route of buying gold to be able to afford their consumes.
It’s a game design flaw that Blizzard actually recognised, as is proven by the fact that in other versions of this game they made Black Lotus be a random chance drop from all high level herbs.
Blizzard need to step in and fix this, or folks are just going to end up leaving as it becomes more and more of a RMT mess.
As much as i hate stuff like this, this actually does solve bots to a degree. It would drive down prices fast. If the item had it’s own cooldown category on a 6 day CD you could use it for raid each time. It would tank lotus prices 70% over night. There is 100s of gold seller accounts sitting on 100s of lotuses and blizzard won’t ban them.
All these things are easy to farm yourself though, whereas Black Lotus is extremely limited, as it does not drop from anything else.
They may buy all this stuff. But if it’s too expensive, then you can still farm that stuff yourself in a day, if you really need it, so if they drive prices up too high, where farming the gold for them takes more time than just farming the thing itself, then nobody will buy it, except credit card swipers. Which in turn makes it very easy to identify gold buyers, because blizzard just needs to look at the data of people buying overpriced stuff from the AH and then check their gold history for anything suspicious.
The way to fix this bs would be to put npcs in the game that sell all these endgame thing’s for a set gold value then the AH prices would have a max out limit or people would just buy them from the NPC… It would also severely hurt the gold farming/bot Industry (casuse lets face it, its a bussiness.)
It’s not needed to clear but people like to use them for sweating and that’s part of the game. It also won’t drop down to under 150 or even 200g. It will drop to 250 and then AQ comes out and it shoots up to 400. Then it drops 50g and then Naxx comes out and it goes over 500g.
