When i start the game the cinematic gives a black screen i have sound but the screen stays black.

I tried several times now i have to close wow and restart my pc because windows will stop working after i close wow.

it gives the message wow is not reacting when i force it to close down.

If you’re still experiencing this issue, please follow the steps in this article https://support.blizzard.com/help/article/000014477 and hopefully that should resolve it.

Nothing works tbh.

I tried resseting ingame setting

I updated my drivers.

i uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

i removed all addons.

I tried the command to let it run windowed and with direct x11.

Im out of ideas and ever since i reset the settings i now get a screen where it warns me for seizures and more.

it says push any button to continue but whenever i do that the screen turns grey and i get the messege wow is not responding.

I have to restart my pc at that point as the wow window cannot be closed not even with forced closing.

I have a AMD ryzen 5 9600x 6 core , 32GB 6000mhz ram, and a AMD radeon hellhound RX 9060XT 32GB, 1TB SSD.

Maybe 1 of these is causing the problem ?

Same for me! Black screen.
I am running on linux tho. I have tried several different Proton versions. Also updated my system but with no luck. It has to do with latest patch.
If I run in windowed mode I can login and stuff. But when pressing any mousebutton to move the camera. The screen turns black. And when i release the button the black disappears. Oh and also, my pointer vanishes if i hold the right mouse button down for like 3 seconds, and then it will never return back.

Number of monitors/displays ?

you can try this(disable/fix MPO):

1 monitor, samsung.

im out of ideas at this point.

I also removed the latest security update from windows, no help either.

The only thing it can be imo is a problem on there side but everyone should have the problem then not just me.

Everything worked just fine untill wednesday morning after the new patch went life.

After resseting ingame settings via battle.net this is the screen i see.

PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING

A small % of people may have seizures from surten lights ,patterns or images……..

On the verry bottom it says push any button to continue.

my cursor changes to the wow cursor looks like a hand.

Tyhe screen only reacts to me clicking my mouse button it then becomes grey and the message wow is not responding appear.

I get the option to close it or wait for it to respond wich it never does i left it open for over 30min.

I cannot close that window either it wont do anything not even when i go into task manager and try to force it to close.

Now also tried this step still nothing.

The key is: fully quit Battle.net + kill Agent.exe first, or Windows will keep files locked.

  1. Quit Battle.net completely
  • Right-click the Battle.net icon in the system tray → Quit
  1. Task Manager cleanup
  • End task on Battle.net.exe

  • End task on Agent.exe / Blizzard Update Agent

  1. Delete these cache locations
Use Win + R and paste each one:
  • %programdata%
→ delete (or rename) Blizzard Entertainment (this is the big one people miss)

  • %appdata%
    → delete Battle.net

  • %localappdata%
→ delete Battle.net (and any Blizzard/Battle.net cache folders you see)

  • %temp%
→ delete any Battle.net folders (skip anything Windows says is “in use”)

  1. Reboot, then Run Battle.net as Administrator, then try launching.

That’s rough buddy
but from what you write you missed one place %programdata%\Battle.net\Agent\data

one addition:
1.Navigate to World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF => there is only file Config.wtf => right click => open with… => notepad
2.Then check this settings and change their attribute

SET lastReadTOS "60003"
SET readEULA "1"
SET readTOS "1"
SET readContest "-1"
SET movie "0"
SET enterWorld "1"
SET showNewbieTips "0"
SET useTargetFPS "0"
SET useMaxFPS "1"
SET maxFPS "60"
SET maxFPSBk "8"
SET disableServerNagle "0"
SET graphicsShadowQuality "0"
SET graphicsDepthEffects "0"
SET preloadPlayerModels "0"
SET preloadLoadingDistTerrain "0"
SET minimapTrackingShowAll "1"

here are some steps:

  1. Disable/update all anti-malware/anti-virus/firewall/defender/“Citrix” software, or whitelist WoW + Battle.net app folder , because that software can block from opening/editing(updating) files
  2. Move both WoW + Battle.net app folders out of Program Files, I did explain it in the link below under 1.b (TLDR: Windows block from editing files in Program Files)
  3. Make sure your files are NOT read-only, disable search indexing on those folders/files, and on MacOS check your permissions WoW + Battle.net app folders
  4. Move/delete all .exe files in WoW folder, then you follow the link guide below in which the last step will redownload them(Scan & Repair)
here is example how to find all *.exe files : https://i.imgur.com/WRCDbCy.png , how to locate WoW folder is in the link below in the 1. step of Deleting Cache in WoW
  5. Follow in link below Deleting Cache in WoW + Deleting only cache for Battle.net app/program to redownload all broken files

I tried everything you said including the other post onhere nothing works.

I removed everything from my pc except windows.

After i tried everything you said its still not working it still freezes on the screen where it says PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING.

I removed everything including battle.net and wow and reinstalled everything from scratch.

Then i tried wow again still same problem.

Im getting to a point where im just gone give up for now and stop playing.

then it is some issue with GPU software
disable everything in Adrenaline, have pretty much bare bone drivers
or you could DDU, and install only the “driver only” option

disable everything in windows what is not needed
this is my Win10 processes https://i.imgur.com/Mge65OM.png everything else is pretty much bloat, Windows 11 shouldn’t be that much different

Sorry for the late answer but im just gone wait for this weeks update.

I tried everything and nothing works.

I followed all the steps you and others posted and removed everything from my pc except windows and still nothing works.

its pointless at this point.

you can test if the GPU is broken by :
try take out GPU(pull out from motherboard), and try open WoW only with iGPU.

otherwise look for Windows/HW issues

Does this count as a black screen?

It’s only one mob in the entire game that is consistently causing it for me and people have been reporting different kinds of issues around it since the first day.

I tested my ram i tested my processor aswel.

Today i again removed everything except Windows deleted all battlenet and wow folders and everything else i can think off.

Im doing a new install off battlenet and wow again.

Ill have a look tommorow if it works or not.
