Blacksmithing confusing now

I’m a little confused with what happened to Blacksmithing.
I decided to make a new character and skipped the new intro isle, opting to go straight to Ellwynn and enjoy the experience.
However, when I talked ot the BS trainer Argus in Ellwynn Smithies, he only gives me Cataclysm recipes, which us obsidian and folded obsidian.
I can see all the recipes which use copper, but am unable to start collecting them until level 10 smithing. Now, if I can’t craft anything until I get to Obsidian, how am I meant to level to 10 copper recipes?
Shouldn’t these be the 1st recipes you are trained.
If I were a totally new player wanting to experience the game, I’d be utterly lost right now.
As an older player I already have a high level smith that can mail obsidian over, but this shouldn’t surely be the way it works…

It’s because you are looking at your Cataclysm Blacksmithing subcategory. I went and learned BS on an alt just now and there are five items I can make to skillup my Classic BS, not counting the relics.

Filter → Classic

Aaaah that fixed it.
Thanks Yeetheart.
Odd that it isn’t on Classic by default. I thought the filter would be for available/unavailable or learned/unlearned. Wouldn’t have guessed it was per expac

I think that is because cata and classic are mixed together now.

If you go to do Chromie time, last I checked, you do not have the option to choose cata. Instead, if you choose classic you get access to cataclysm dungeons.

I assume it works the same wat now with professions too.

The whole fresh start experience seems screwy to me. I’m getting all dungeons from BFA to run, but no classic dungeons. Cata crafting by default and not classic.
It’s poorly laid out imo. I’d hate to be someone who’d never played before.

Legacy crafting is totally broken now. I would ignore it but you hit DF unless you wanted some transmog or achievements.

Crafted items are much lower ilvl than quest drops.

My opinion, Blizz should just put all those crafts into legacy category up to WoD where the skill-up is related to one expansion.
