Why does blacksmithing have to make 3 weekly crafting orders while all the other professions just have to make 2?
And why do I only get patron orders where all of the incredibly expensive stuff is supposed to be provided by me. If I want to do patron orders to get knowledge points I have to spend so much gold to almost get nothing in return. The orders will take me a minimum of 150k to make, for which I get what 50g in return? And 2 skill points and some aquity? Why is this so ridiculous?? Blizz please do something about this!
Enchanting with Glees is actually a cheese if you think about it. Those glees are exactly 22 recipes and to get them all, you need to invest 5 points in the basic skill to unlock the specialization, and then 15 in the spec itself. So for 20 invested points, you get 22 recipes. 22 DIRT CHEAP recipes.
Craft each one of them once and you get 22 KP back, leaving you with +2 free KP after the whole excercise. But you also gained ~20 Enchanting levels, unlocked those 22 recipes for future Patron Orders, gained a bunch of aquity in the process (to buy the cheapest +10 Enchanting KP book for 200) and some of them (like Blood Elf and Human) sell for a profit, if you wanna craft them. Plus the glees themselves only have 3 levels (stars) and if you put those 20 points in, you can craft them at level2, and lvl3 requires a tiny bit (~50-80) of concentration if you use good quality mats. So you can auto-complete all future glee orders for free or cheap. Unlike those “Enchanted Weathered Crest with no mats provided, reward is 30 atrisan and +5 skill card” = 1k minimum for mats to get 30 aquity, grand.
I hated those orders first too, but after I thought about it, now I am quite happy with the result. Picking up the glees is actually the best start in levelling Enchanting you can do.
Tailoring also has to make 3. And all you see in the public ones is (of course) the one thing you have no recipe for, or … well… nothing. It’s pretty empty there. Blacksmiths at least will get SOME orders during the week, tailoring has next to none.
Haha. I know, my first enchanter did not have the glees. at all, and kept getting orders for them, over and over and over… But I have another char that had 2 gathering professions and since the honeymoon phase is over now, I just dropped his herbing and got Enchanting instead. With the "good " start this time. He has better Enchanting skills than my first one now, lol.
not really though, I’ve had almost no BS public orders that I could make. For some reason people kept putting up orders for raid recipes which weren’t even in the game yet last week
Yup yup, same with tailoring. Recipes that drop from the new raid for the last week, before even it was out lol.
Occasional crafting tool, but of course it is the cooking hat, the only one I don’t have… Doesn’t bother me that much, honestly, because I mainly picked tailoring for myself, for crafting and recrafting pieces and bags. And to sell all extra cloth and bolts I don’t need. So it’s alright.
With BS, you can craft alloys, those are always in demand. And extremely expensive at the moment. Donno if they are very profitable for the crafter, but hey. Also plate gear and weapons, those are required by a lot of classes.
At least you have something that sells, and will continue to sell throughout the expansion (the alloys). You can sell them at the AH and you will even get crafting orders for it. Tailoring has nothing like that, everyone buys bags on the AH, they are sold at-cost, occasionally someone orders spellthreads but those are rare and insta-picked by some other tailor. Or straight up buys them on the AH, at-cost, no money to be made by the likes of small tailors like me. The only thing worth mentioning that might get ordered is the crafted cloak, of which I saw 1 order and even though I was very fast, it was not fast enough, someone took it before me… I am sitting at 4/4 available public orders and have been for 3-4 days now, not a single one completed. I finished the quest with Patron Orders and that took a week because it kept giving me recipes that I don’t have (like PvP armor, at least 2 each day)…
ye it’s awful. I went for crafting Alloys and got mostly patron orders for crafting gear that gives the knowledge, and overall are very expensive compared to other professions. Idk who balanced this.
no take santified alloys for example, the cost to make these are much higher than what the finished alloys are selling for at the AH, you will only loose a lot of gold that way. And sadly profaned tinderboxes are hard to get by and not something you can make yourself. ALso null stones are pretty hard to come by and very expensive to buy off the AH. So at this point it’s just not worth it. The only prof I actually made a little bit of gold with so far has been tailoring with the 36 slot duskweave bags, but since they nerfed duskweave drops they’re also pretty impossible to make atm.
Well, I am guessing after people are done raiding this week, there will be a lot of orders for BS weapons and armor. To fill in voids in the gear slots that didn’t drop and because a lot of people just got their 2 Sparks to craft a weapon in the first place. So there might be some hope for you yet.
What about the weapon attachments (weighstones?) that you can make, I hear they are pretty good ? They are consumable, so with raiding open now, they should sell pretty well from now on. Also frameworks, I bought quite a lot of tempered ones for my Enchanting, they go pretty fast. Maybe there is some money to be made there.
I’m not really talking about stuff I can sell on the AH, I’m talking about patron orders being the only thing (besides the weekly treasures and weekly quest) to get KP points to advance the profession and they’re too expensive to make atm because the system is so flawed.
It’s intentional. If (and probably when) you don’t complete them, you will be given more and easier Patron Orders to catch up with the KP. You will not be much (or if at all) behind other players with this mechanic.
I swap regularly playing between 2 characters. On my lock I got 4 orders I could not complete before I switched back to my warrior for a couple of days. When I got back to the warlock, this time I saw 6 orders, of which I could complete 5. It’s fine. You will get your KP, but the whole system is based on FOMO and a lot of people still don’t know there is a built-in catch up mechanic.
There is not though, I’ve had the same recurring orders for a week now on BS, even when I get new ones. And the one easy one I got today does not even give KP points. Also I do have all other professions as well and besides engineering, the other profs have way more crafting orders I can make even with AH bought mats because they are not that expensive. Having to spend more than 150k on orders is ridiculous if you want to stay updated. These purple crafts often have 6 days expiring time.
Yea, that’s true. BS has always been kinda expensive, but what you craft is more expensive when you sell it, too. Maybe that doesn’t translate too well with the current crafting orders thingy, all it does is make you spend more gold than others… Maybe it needs some tuning.
This also applies to all professions, I think it would be best if at least one of your Patron Orders is guaranteed to have all the mats provided and from the recipes that you already know (or perhaps one of the basic ones that everyone gets) just so it is not so much RNG. Right now it kinda feels like a lottery every day.
