I just wanted to make a post about this dagger Blade of Eternal Darkness as a shadow priest 49.
Is it supposed to proc off first application of Mind Flay and Shadow Word: Pain or only from spells like Smite, Mind Blast.
I did some test in duels and I have never seen any proc with these spells : Mind Flay and Shadow Word: Pain.

Don’t think it works for either mind flay or SWP.
Only mind blast.
Mostly only useful for mages tbh.
It only procs from direct damage spells.
Wrong, it used to (classic) happen with the application of SW:P and Mind Flay (not subsequent damage).
However, there was some lazy developer coding used because it was abused to despawn all mobs on Razorgore which probably broke it for SW:P and Mind Flay.

It’s for direct damage only.
It was fixed in Classic Vanilla due to abuse in BWL for speedrun, it was possible to despawn all mobs on Razorgore like Roffejow said.
It’s good mostly for Mage now, for unlimited mana.
Since it won’t be used that way now, why not bring it back the way it was ?
It feels useless now.
It’s a random Proc, which means it may not proc off the first hit of anything.
So, i was… right?
there is no random proc off the first hit, neither from any hit of the whole channeling of mindflay / any proc of swp.
It used to proc on the first hit of each of those. that’s my point.
Don’t think it’s ever procced off SWP.(Maybe classic?)
Don’t think mind flay is considered a direct damage spell either?
