Blessings removed in Shadowlands?

Am I wrong or are they removing blessings for retribution? I don’t main retri but it feels kinda wrong, now they have no utility. You get auras but they are pretty terrible, one of them is pretty selfish actually and holy/prot bring them already. The only thing they have left is Lay on Hands and Freedom but holy already has these. Is there something in place for these blessings?

I don’t get this, they talk about unprunning and bringing back old classes but back in the day ALL specs could use most blessings and they were far more interesting and powerful than these boring and mostly useless auras.

Blessings we’re almost pointless. A shield for 0.5% of your hp or a tiny Mana buff to one healer.

Dead spells and I personally am glad they are gone. Felt really bad to use when a Mana pot or an azerite trait were just so much stronger

Kings in particular. 30k shield with a 600k hp pool. So useful. Meanwhile Devo aura is a 3% continuous dmg reduction on every in 15 yards which is much more potent

Meanwhile we still have bop. Freedom. Lay on hands and now the addition of devo crusader and summer aura they are deffinatly in a better place

Also to address some of the points you made. Retrabution aura the one that you called selfish. Is something you will switch on when someone is about to die and then switch off again. It’s not designed to be up all the time. It will find it’s niche with players who can spot someone about to die or where feather are planned / unavoidable. One example is mythic ashvane where the tank was shedualed to die at specific points in the fight

Additionally the point of un pruneing was to make the class kits the same across all specs so why would would ret have something that holy and prot dosent I don’t understand your line of reason when you say holy and prot already bring these to the table. For one the prot paladib night be using spell warding therefore they won’t have a bop for bleeds.

Finally you haven’t seen all the auras yet there are more coming such as summer aura which if memory serves causes everyone effected to deal extra holy damage with their attacks

Blessings used to be core to the spec. They could have made them class wide again, in a cata/mop/wod style (Not classic, it’s no-no!) intsead of removing them.

Ye just make them strong like CDs that you can only use on allies lets say 15-30sec on some dmg, haste, speed, magicial resistance, barrier, I dont know, so many ideas. At this point I think any utility would be really nice since not only ret is boring rogue but now they also don’t bring almost anything.

Even as cd, in the m+ world they still be worth much less than full times buff other classes provide.
In terms of value for a group, we bring the less of all the classes, on par with locks.

So unless our dmg or tanking capabilities are super solid, i expect another expansion of suffering.

It was a different design back when more people meant stronger parties because of more buffs.

This is one thing I didn’t catch so I’m glad you mentioned it.

I do like blessings, no matter how weak they may be, I still think they are fun to use. I just like casting buffs in general and feel like a sad puppy when they take them away.

I love the idea of me sitting on my high horse (dino), blessing my fellow players. stranger: “Padre, will you give me your divine blessing, please? Me: No, you are unworthy you dirty little Goblin. Begone!” The removal of blessings will mess with my divine roleplay as a righteous, holy smashing machine. Haters will be blessed.
