A few changes would be nice to avoid win trading, reduce declines and losing MMR.
When the queue pop and you accept it, don’t show the progress (X/16)
Pop the queue with random delays so syncing will be harder
If someone not accepting add a short (4-5 min) soft-deserter debuff (they are afk anyway)
Put the team MMR to the popup if it’s more than 100 lower than the personal MMR. If the MMR is way lower than your MMR you should be able to decline without a deserter. Let us decide if we want to take the risk with a “lose a lot / win a bit” scenario
Remove placement games. Start from 1500 MMR and let everyone climb normally.
Also: Players need to practice / learn the maps somewhere. Re-introduce the Brawl mode. Entering Rated Blitz should require an achievement (account wide) to win at least 3-5 times on each map in Brawl mode. Or make some tutorial mode, idk… but the players at low rating have no idea how the maps works in blitz.
Last season there was “placement games”. At least on my alt (0 blitz played) I was put in teams randomly between 1500-2500 mmr… for my first 10-15 games (i don’t remember the exact number). it’s bad for the team and bad for the newbie.
I’ve missed many queues because I had to go to the toilet, which is already annoying enough with how long the queue times are sometimes. I don’t think making queue times even more longer with that is the answer. Perhabs make it the same as skirmishes.
You start (no game ever played) at a MMR of 1500 (season 1) or 1600 (I think season 2) : so your first games are in the 1500s bracket. Except if there are not enough players at that bracket ; then the matchmaking system widens the range of allowed MMRs. The real issue is that there are not enough players right now.
In season 3, the starting MMR for new players seems to be around 890. I am not sure why they changed it.
It is the answer, 1% of missed queues due to toilet cannot hold other players hostages to no changes and prone to cheating.
Guess what, I missed several queues due to toilet or other issues as well and would never use this as an argument against implementing of changes that would prevent queue syncing, even if they add a stacking 15 minutes penalty.
Yeah, make queue times even longer. What could go wrong with an already struggling game mode that is PvP. Most people with a life have limited time to play. Let’s start punishing people because they had to go to the toilet.
Who cares if 1% of players will have a longer queue from time to time if it prevents cheating for 99% of us. You act like you miss every queue due to toilet
honestly the placement games are the worst, i once won like 5 in a row i think and got like 2.1 mmr getting 100 per win and i lost the 6th adn i kid you not it was -597 mmr so basically 5-1 is starter mmr still XD
I’ve missed a few aswell. But i can count on one hand how many. The benefit of the deserter would be greater than a 5 minute deserter every 50 queue when you miss it accidently.
I would suggest start with deserter to be 2 mins, if person declines again, increase time x2, again - then another x2 multiplier.
If whole group declined queue when it popped up then X multiplier set to the amount of people in the group.
The current system is actively hostile to people who are a bit unlucky and don’t have the time to play hundreds of games to get out of rating hell. That’s insane for a casual PvP mode.
At the moment, you either get lucky or you are forced to brute force your way through the rating system to finally reach the state where you aren’t playing with 7 people who may as well be AI bots. It’s incredibly offputting.
Yeah, it’s funny how my mage (last time I played mage in Draenor, so almost a completely new class for me) got 2160 rating and my priest (my 2nd main) something around 1700-1800 peak, I don’t remember, eventually I stopped playing Blitz. Just a coin flip…
