Blizz, I'm disabled please make one change to Torghast

Hi Blizzard, I dont expect you to do anything as you rarely do us disabled people any favours in game, although you did finally remove Pathfinder so a big THANK YOU for that. Now for the first time since WoD I can actually fly again so thank you.

However I’m disabled with Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy (basically that means I’m stuff and very slow moving compared to everyone else) I’ve been playing WoW since Cata so for 11 years now and the came helps me so much. Although I have only the use only one finger and I play WoW with a Logitech Marble Mouse (Trackball) and the Arrow Keys on a Keyboard and Target Button on Num Pad 0 it works for me as its all close together. I can do a good half of the thinks in WoW maybe a tad more. I’m aways a Death Knight because I can pull the targets to me and hold him still while I kill him. I’m reasonably good at fighting if I dont move. However moving whilst fighting I’m rubbish at and its never gonna change so fair enough. Keeping that in mind we come to Toghast…

I absolutely love Toghast or rather I did. Like with all things in World of Warcraft you just take one step too far, only just one step to far for me and other disabled people and that one step makes that thing we enjoy impossible to do and I think “Here we go again” and give up on that one thing which in my case is a good chunk of the story or getting good gear (apart from the Legion Artifact Weapon I cant actually remember when I had great gear so could join in with raids etc)… In BFA the “going one step to far” was Corruption and tis annoying gear to fight Corruption that was hell for me and I very nearly quit WoW after 10 years… With Shadowlands and Torghast that “going one step to far” is this…

Any of the Stung pools on the ground that hit, stun and kill you. Even the Shadow pool on the ground that grows and kills you. As I cant move fast all I can do is Level 1 of Floor 2 just about but if you just took this one thing out of the Game I could actually do Torghast and enjoy it too.

Also I personally cant Interrupt a Targets “Self-Healing spell” in Torghast as I’m just too slow moving ie my hand and my one finger. So in Torgast if I come up against a Target with a Self-Healing spell I’m screwed because its like a Stale Mate ie the other day I was fighting a Target with a Self-Healing spell for 30 minutes before I gave up. So can you fix this too please. Everything else in Shadowlands I can cope with.

Most Game Companies get the wrong meaning of what I’m trying to ask etc they just assume its a skill issue and I’ll improve in time or get help from Guild etc then just ignore it then I get stuck this the thing I hate. In my case I’m just slow to move and theres no improving that as its just my disability and my one finger lol.

Thanks for listening and I hope you actually help me one time

So what are your suggestions for accessibility really? What’s the discussion?

Remove all abilities?

Add any options to accomodate for your disability, if so what?

I wish you well with your condition.

However, it’s a very unreasonable request to demand the entirety of the game to become easier for you because of your condition.

It’s like asking the entire world to drive slower because you don’t have the necessary reaction time for an average driver.

the spells you need to interrupt, have been a part of this game for a very long time. It’s part of the mechanics and how things were for years. If your condition is restricting you, then get to the level that you can. anything above that is reasonable to be out of your reach.

Unfortunatelly this can’t be changed much without completely trivializing the content for people without disabilities.

You will just have to stick to other parts of the game or group up with guildies/helpful people.

One solution could be to try and avoid the particular Halls and Boss fights with the problematic mechanics, that should still leave quite a lot of Torghast available.
The issue with removing the mechanics that cause you problems, is that they are part of the challenge for other players.
Hope you stick with WoW, if you enjoy most of it.
:beers:

Seconded. Surely somebody will run through it with you
I mean it’d be nice if there was a currency or something to disable certain effects in the Maw but I can’t see that happening realistically.

This was truly heartbreaking to read, I wish you all the best man. However I doubt they would change torghast like you suggest but I hope you could find other areas in the game to enjoy. And you’re able to clear some part of torghast so you’re not completely left out and actually gain decent amount of soul ash too so that’s excellent. Wish you all the best man.

Do you have any friends who can help you? Like someone who can do the interupts or whatever? I’m sure you can find people who would love to help someone in your position out.

Sorry about your condition, but Blizzard can’t balance the game around people with disabilities: the rest of us wouldn’t have any challenge left. I can’t imagine a mechanic that you could do which would still be a challenge for normal players, with all due respect. If you have ideas for mechanics that would be more accessible while still remaining challenging, you’re free to share your findings.

Give your head a wobble…Stephen Hawking would have thought your grasp of Physics and Quantum Mechanics, lamentable…with all due respect.

How is that relevent? Good lord.

With all due respect, that should be very obvious…the OP stated over half of WoW content, he was totally OK with… yet someone wanted to bang on about not being able to imagine a mechanic the OP could handle…and then icing the steaming pile, used the term, ‘normal people’.

You may not want to BUT give a shout out on your realm for a 2 man, some people are slower than others with no disabilities & would be glad to help. Plus maybe there is a gaming disabilty expert to help with equipment, paraplegics play with a head device to move, nohandsken on twitch or youtube is not around to play anymore, but have a look at his vids see if anything on them to help with moving.

You’re probably referring to the Inner Flames ability. I think that’s the only self-healing ability in Torghast.

This ability is on a 1 minute cd (quick google search, so I’m not sure how accurate this is). With this knowledge you can actually plan ahead and get ready to interrupt before the cast happens to accommodate for your lack of speed.

Do you by any chance use any addons for a custom ui. With the Weak Aura addon for example you could set it up to track the Inner Flames cooldown. You could then start preparing to interrupt when the remaining cooldown gets to, let’s say 5 secs left.

You best bet for these is probably to pull enemies back to a safer spot where these traps are not around.

Maybe the click-to-move option can help you with making moving a little easier.

The Ravenous Anima Cell from the vendor (orange orb for 250 phantasma) can help dealing with these pools. It will still require you to get to the vendor on floor 3, but if you manage to get that orb you can use it on of the shades and get an anima power that allows you to absorb the pools on the ground and even heal off of it.

I honestly don’t know too much about your condition. But maybe setting up voice commands can help you aswell. Software for that is quite okay these days and you could set up your interrupt with it for example.

Hey my friend. I am glad you are enjoying wow and find it helps you. Sorry to hear about Torghast issues. I have no idea what the solution might be or how it could be implemented. However, can you confirm if you want to run torghast solo or your would be ok with grouping up? As with most things in wow we all find challenging the answer often lies in getting friends to help. I know i find torghast a lot better with a friend in tow. If you can reply and let me know if you are up for doing it in a group and i will come and find you on your realm so we can add each other to friends list and help each other out now and then when we need it

Sorry to hear about your condition, OP, but thing is it’s not really possible to change Torghast any further, simply because the rogue-like nature (as washed up version as it is) of the game mode.
However, I would suggest you find someone kind enough to help you out.

Amazing how when someone claims their class is broken because they don’t top the logs for a week, everyone has a million ideas and opinions on how to solve it.

Someone says “Hey, I’m physically struggling with this one thing, can it be tweaked” and everyone is like “Nothing can be done, Torghast cannot be changed”.

Good luck OP. I know you’re not expecting a change as you opened with that, so ignore some of the naff responses. If nothing else, I think it helps that you highlight this stuff so that we can be aware of things that some players struggle with.

Assuming it can be done cross realm I’m happy to have you tag along for some higher floor clears. Just let me know

Yes it can be done with crossrealm. I did it with people from a community i am part of that helps each other with content. However, i just noticed op is horde and i am alliance :frowning:

That’s because, to average players, over half of WoW is trivially easy. It’s designed that way.

WoW wants to span the range to give challenges and fun from the very worst to the very best. OP’s condition makes him a worse player through no fault of his own, and rebalancing the entire game is not a viable solution to that.

They could nerf the first 2 or so layers, I guess? But that’s about it.

That isn’t going to happen.

Moving from stuff on the floor is a key part of World of Warcraft at any skill level. Movement is one of the most ingrained, core parts of the experience, both in and out of combat.

The only way to make gameplay where this sort of disability doesn’t matter is to remove the real time element, i.e. make WoW turn based and much more tactical.

So… you can still enjoy the vast majority of the game, and I commend you for recognising this, unlike so many others on this forum - but Torghast may be out of reach.

There are also other games I can strongly recommend to people with a disability such as yours. Baldur’s Gate 3 and the Divinity: Original Sin games are excellent for RPG players, and many of my friends enjoy Civilization 6.
