No abomination limb (great QoL toolkit), increasing amz cooldown from 2 min cd to 4 min ??? it will be not worth it to take it for m+. What we have utility we have now for m+? regular grips ? It is problem now to get in groups to push m+, we against VDH (your beloved ones always good buffs, great tier sets) prot palladins…
Indeed, brother, the changes are abysmal, especially if you consider that all other tanking specs either receive no changes (like over OP Vengeance) or get buffs (warrior and monk).
I feel like Blizzard focuses on DPS DK mostly and butchers us in the process. .
S1 Frost DK is meta and has insane survability.
result: ALL Dk specs get their survivability nerfed, including blood DK.
S2 Unholy DK pulls giga damage with blood beast.
result: both Unholy and Blood DKs get their BB nerfed, blood Dk BB gets bigger nerf than unholy’s.
S3 dps DKs complain about not being invited into raids because of lack of raid buff.
Some DPS DK find Abom Limb “button bloat” and not useful (skill issue if you don’t know how to use it), while for blood DK Abom Limb is absolutely essential for both keeping threat and positioning mobs on big pulls.
result: remove Abom Limb from ALL DK, make some raid trash / adds grippable ( nerf to all DKs and huge nerf to blood DK in particular).
And people wonder why there is such a shortage of tanks in m+?! Maybe because most tanks are not meta slaves and if you keep mistreat their spec, they will eventually stop playing in frustration. And raising a competent tank takes many times more time than a competent DPS.
They say to play what you like and not worry about a small percentage of a character being better or worse than another. But I see Blizzard really likes to kill a class on a massive scale sometimes. 4 min cd Amz?! I don’t play M+, but even in raids you can feel it.
Amz is getting the increase on CD but being made 15% group DR is pretty strong on certain pulls or boss encounters … I’m gutted about abom limb. Even my toons named after it
on what pulls or boss encounters? I never had issue with my AMZ running out of caps in m+. There is nothing “strong” about gutting you 20% DR to 15% and increasing CD from 2 min to 4 min.
Okay I dunno, I just think it might not be that terrible
Oh and I agree with the abom limb, losing that for setting up pulls is gona feel bad at times for sure. That I am really annoyed about

Regarding AMZ I will just give a brief example: on first boss of Floodgate - Big Mama - on higher keys I am usually able to use my AMZ 2 times throughout the fight, that 20% mitigation for 8 sec (the AoE damage lasts 12 sec, so I cover 66% of uptime) really helps my healers a great deal as they can spare their own cooldowns.
Floodgate is retuning in s3 and now I will be able to use it only 1 time, the Dr will be only 15% and last 6 sec (i.e. 50% uptime).
50% CD nerf + 25% duration nerf + 25% DR neff = 72% overall nerf to AMZ.
Yeah, I’d say it does look quite terrible. -
Yep, that’s a big loss when doing big pulls. Also do not forget that we lose 3% permanent haste for no reasons.
I’ve not looked into the changes as deep as that, so, I can’t give the same conclusions to what you just provided, which the way make alot of sense I suppose you could also throw down for the big mob after the boss, the 3rd boss and have it back up for frog lizard and back up again for the first phase on last boss. When broken down that much, ouch yeah

And I know, DH is in a good state at the moment, but I recall I wasn’t happy about it.
When I saw these changes announced, I was clearly unhappy. And another set of changes, where you think, did anyone ask for it? Was anyone complaining?
I wish we could get vdh treatment from blizz. We have dead talents, now less utility, still no raid buff, because our raid buff is grips but now we have less grips
One day it might happen fingers crossed, but I wouldn’t count on it happening anytime soon. If grip is considered a raid buff to this day, what are we even talking about here.
But hey looks like DH gets a new spec! Just in case being the dominant tank spec wasn’t enough.
I personally don’t care about another tank spec being more dominant, but when fun things get taken away without anything in return, it bothers me !
I tried Blood DK sveral times as I dig the “vampire” (ish) theme but I don’t like gameplay style. It is what it is, but I like the class as a whole.
I dunno why are they making changes pretty much no one asked for, like someone had a fever dream…
in m+ i dont care about the cap and i got a 20% DR from it on a lower CD. for us m+ ppl all these changes they made from the start of TWW till now is breaking our legs and shooting us in the back of the head.
i loved BDK in DF and stuck to it but I’m really considering just joining the VDH crowd since they can keep sigil of chains, are more self sustaining than THE self sustain tank in the game… its so frustrating
That is normal, I got that myself with a few specs. I don’t like Frost DK e.g.
I too play m+ by the way, and as I said later on, yeah fair play to the OP with the being able to use it as often etc on dangerous packs, or save it for a boss now and so forth. I agree, it’s not great at all, and the removal of slappy needs to be looked at
not gonna lie they need a person that plays BDK for changes on the class… I’m still missing my Death Strike from DF. we are not even the most self sustaining tank anymore wth is this.
Blood shield was nice for blocking the one taps indeed…
