Blizzard arbitrarily charged my credit card

Two weeks ago, I noticed a charge on my credit card from Blizzard. While it was a small amount, I found it strange since I had made no purchases. I know Blizzard and other companies charge 1 euro temporarily to validate the card, however I had made no purchase so there was no reason to validate my card to begin with. It is the same card I have used to pay my sub for years. Additionally, after a few days the charge was not reversed and now, 12 days later, the charge is still there.

Having contacted both my bank and Visa, I got confirmation that it was indeed a charge and not a temporary hold. I have been in contact with Blizzard support for 5 days now and all I get in response is “These charges are temporarily held by the bank and should normally be automatically released within 72 hours” even though almost 300 hours (12 days) have passed. So far I have gotten that same answer from GMs Hailideu, Chragnmor, Yalyloba, and Smimoriath. Do you guys even read the tickets I send you?

According to post on both Reddit and Twitter, this is quite a common thing for Blizzard to do. It is always small amounts so no one ever notices. I think it is absolutely ridiculous for any company to arbitrarily charge their customer base for no reason whatsoever.

Can you pls return my money? It’s not yours.

Hey Aightyl,

Sorry to hear that you’ve been having a small charge with your bank account.

You can check your Battle.net account history for all purchases made on your account: https://account.battle.net/transactions

There is currently no purchase for 1E on your account, and we don’t sell anything for 1E. As you noted, seeing a small charge on your account would usually be a verification fee when making a purchase (to make sure that your payment method is valid). You can find more information here:

That being said, it doesn’t look like you’ve made any purchase recently, and I would encourage you to check with your bank to double check where this charge is coming from, as this one doesn’t appear to be coming from us.
