Hmm…people who do this aren’t likely to be playing the game or have an active subscription.
NOW ENTERING THE ARENA!!.. EXCELSIOR… THUNDERWING!! AND HER TEAM!!
We spoke to ExcelsiorThunderwing on the Arena forums earlier about allegations of excessive trash talking and trolling and she replied “quack”…
Fair point, I just take these things at face value because I am a idiot.
Yeah, that’s the customer retention part I explained to you earlier.
Every time there’s a new expansion Blizzard appeals to their customer base with a bunch of advertisement, PR hype, and splendid offers. That customer base consists as much of existing subscribers as it does of old subscribers.
Anyway, it’s irrelevant whether those people who choose to subscribe stick around and play the game every single day or not. What matters is their willingness to spend additional money on WoW, and how much they’re willing to spend.
And if we are to go by Blizzard’s own reports of revenue, then there are some customers who are willing to spend a lot of money on WoW.
So that’s Blizzard’s approach to WoW. It’s less about getting a ton of subscribers and more about getting the subscribers who are willing to spend more money on WoW than just the subscription.
If Blizzard just cared about getting lots of players, then they could just make the game cheaper and it would be more affordable to more people. But they don’t, because getting lots of players isn’t the goal. Getting lots of money is.
Hence why it’s stupid to correlate the quality of the game with the amount of players it has. Because the amount of players is more dictated by Blizzard’s business strategies than by their game design.
Aww never mind, come and get a hug from Soulie.
here, to make you feel better I’ll quote this one too.
there, isn’t that better now?
Good.
Now…
ur just delusional its fine, if game was good people wouldve stayed and kept playing, its simple
wotlk didnt have grindy mechanics to keep people paying for their subscription still the sub number was the same throughout the whole expansion
bfa = grindy sh1t all long and nobody is playing, i think its contradictory, nevermind its just the worst game so everyone left
now leave my thread
what’s his/her main? I’ve no idea… Anyone know?
LAWL. And if Jito refuses?
Edit, In fact if ANY of us refuse? Tis a public forum after all.
No
dont rly care tbh im not the one wasting 15 min of my life to reply to someone, jito is, only takes me 30 sec to post
eeeeh i wouldnt say its all in the worst state.
no, the games audience just has changed in alot of ways. People who favored the old stuff left and people who enjoy the new stuff joined.
not all the designs were bad, they just Encumbered by the azerite system which was the big mistake.
they’re not gonna move this.
I’d argue in many ways, WoW has never had a “pvp golden age” why? because the games terribly designed for it. Tab target MMORPGS generally are bad in the PvP area because they just dont suit it.
it has had bigger crowds of interest in prior iterations yes. but PvP was never the back of WoW at any point.
classes have changed in beta, Shamans, Warriors and more have all had huge changes to gameplay.
just because its not what u personally want doesnt mean they “havent changed”
Super Mario Bros. for the NES was good in 1983 and lots of people played it.
No changes have ever been made to the game.
It can still be played today on various Nintendo consoles.
But less people play it.
Why?
Why haven’t people kept playing Super Mario Bros. for the past 37 years? If it was good – and it was – why have people stopped playing it?!
Why aren’t people still playing Contra on the NES?
The games on the original PlayStation were great. Why did anyone ever feel the need to get the PlayStation 2 and get a whole bunch of new games? Just keep playing the old games, they were great!
WoW is an old game. It doesn’t matter how many expansions it gets (ask The Sims, EverQuest, they know), it’ll still lose popularity with time as people seek to play new games and get new game experiences. It’s normal. Popularity always shifts toward what’s new. See Fortnite or Minecraft or Roblox or whatever.
Not sure about super mario, but people still play tetris and in fact there was a world record broken last month
lets just take that on board.
And lets go back to this one.
Mmhmmm. Why not go one further and just do this?
Don’t forget to tell everyone that
Double standard of glorious proportion if ever I saw one.
imagine comparing bfa which is 2 years old to super mario which is 30
thing you dont get is around 7 million people came back at start of bfa and they all left cuz the game is garbo
and btw people still play mario, and classic wow servers are still full, u have no idea what youre talking about since start
now give me another detailled post on how clueless you are im waiting xd
btw you are allowed to post on your blue name
Sure sure. And I could say the same for chess, it’s hardly dying off.
But the point is that no one is going to play any game forever. If you don’t stop by yourself, then death will stop you in the end.
It’s perfectly reasonable that people will quit a game after 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 years.
And it’s also perfectly understandable that Blizzard has a tough time attracting young kids to play an old and established game like WoW, whereas Microsoft and Epic Games have an easier time attracting those kids with newer games like Minecraft and Fortnite, which were made for that generation of new gamers.
As said, in gaming the popularity shifts toward what’s new.
Yep, after the lockdown, there was a huge surge of chess streamers
Breaking old skool records is a big business apparently and people take it very seriously. For further reading and watching Goggle “Billy Graham Donkey Kong” Fascinating stuff for people like me who still play retro games a lot, but also accept that for games to become better, they have to change whether I like the changes or not.
For example, i am an avid fan of Street fighter and have been since 1987. but i absolutely despised Street fighter V because i disliked the gameplay.
tens of thousands did, but I didn’t feel the need to jump on people who do play it and tell them they are ruining Street fighter 2 CE and I speak for every SF player out there…
Always a puzzle why people do.
No they leave because WoW appeals to many different types of players.
There are those who are general gamers and just want to play through the leveling experience and check out the introduction content, treating WoW as any other game that they play through on a weekend.
Then there are some players who check the game out, quit after they’ve gotten their money’s worth, and then come back every once in a while when new and interesting content has been added. The cyclical player I think Blizzard has referred to it as.
And then there are the loyal WoW fan who choose that 6 month subscription 15 years ago and hasn’t looked at it since, and who pretty much logs in and plays on a daily basis.
And then there are lots of people in-between that as well. People who buy the game, play it and find out it’s not for them, and then they quit.
The mom who bought WoW for her son, but he wanted Warhammer, so mom had to uninstall it and go to the store and buy Warhammer as well to shut him up.
And so on.
