Blizzard cancels a us server connection!

I agree with you here but this isn’t the deep US south, this is Azeroth. Unlike Mississippi where according to Folklore, rumors and family trees marrying your cousin once removed is still considered good ettiquette, Azeroth has rules for decent behaviour. Like you said yourself, let them come, let them hate, let them get banned for it.
I just feel like history is teaching us a lesson and we should listen already. No good has ever come from a group, ANY group, stating “we are different from everyone else”.

There will always be idiots and numbskulls. Especially in the USA. It’s just who they are and who they are proud to be. I could list pages of dumb things here, just from recent history, and wouldn’t even come close to finishing within this week so let’s just not.

But WoW has rules meant to protect not just the LGBT community against harassment but everyone. So let them come, let them hate and watch the rules do the magic. If push comes to shove, they’ll be banned inside a week. And if not, you’ll have made a positive experience. There’s literally no downside to the merger

rules only work when they are enforced and in wow, rules are generally only enforced when multiple people use the report button. on a server where the majority of players are bigots, such as most people in the deep south, the report button will go untouched.

I never said to report them but to use the rules. Take a screen of the harassment, open a ticket and let it work itself out from there. It might take 2-3 days but blizz has a tendency to be very strict with this as long as they are informed about it. using a fully AI powered report button isn’t gonna work in 90% of all cases.

well i guess you just solved homophobia and transphobia. boy do i feel silly.

edit:
I’m sorry but as you can probably tell from my response, it is exhausting dealing with this kind of stuff all the time. as far as I can tell they aren’t hurting anyone and they just want to play the game and not have to be abused or experience hatred towards them and people like them in general chat etc.
It’s game. they just want to relax. having to go to such lengths to report stuff that shouldn’t be happening anyway, it’s not what they log on for. they log on to relax and have fun with friends in a welcoming environment.

The problem in this very specific case is not Homophobia or Transphobia but Homophobes and Transphobes harassing LGBT people INSIDE a game that has very clear rules and guidelines against this, giving them effective ways of fighting back. I’m not saying it’s not gonna take some work but take me for example. I’ve played on a realm a while back that had a very active Neo scene filled with truly degenerate people. So the server began to fight back. send out reports and linked screenshots and little by little, they dissapeared. Some probabls just went silent or changed servers, others stayed away for good. All with that little “open ticket” button.

While this thread has been derailed by BLM haters and BLM haters haters and the backlash to the backlash of the backlash to the backlash, it’s about a server merge that was cancelled due to fear that some people might be harrassed over who they love or who they want to be which is despicable but combatable as well. 3 clicks, 2 sentences and 1 screenshot is all it takes to get a racist/sexist/(insert name)ist banned. It may take a day or 2, but they’ll be gone, often never to be heard from again.

But excluding a group of people on principle because of a chance that perhaps something negative might happen? Sorry but I’ll never understand or respect such behaviour.

ok but please don’t be another person who does that same thing here… implying that a LGBT friendly server would exclude non LGBT people. it would not, it simply cannot. it’s not possible to exclude non lgbt people and nobody was ever trying to do that. it’s when people imply that this is some way of rejecting non LGBT that is what is making some people upset here so please don’t do that.

ye what you say makes sense and I am sure it would be an amazing ting if they did that and it worked. I don’t know why they haven’t done it then. maybe it’s something to do with their laws for free speech? I don’t know. you’d have to ask them. I only played there for 6 months and I didn’t roll on proudmoore.

Your two paragraphs contradict each other… Sorry. You never rolled on PM, yet refuse to believe a related community would exclude anybody.

how are they going to exclude anybody? ask for their gay card?

I’m not saying it’s impossible for a gay person to be ‘straightphobic’, but I’ve never seen such a thing and I’m pretty sure if they tried it, they’d be swiftly met with resistance from most other people. straight, gay, bi, cis, trans etc.
