So with last week resets there was a change of Zaralek Cavern’s rare spawn.
Zaralek Cavern
[With weekly restarts] The loot lockout now resets when the content in a given area of the map becomes available. Now, when world quests are visible in an area, the rare elite enemies in that area will also be available. Rare elite rewards have been increased to offset their reduced frequency.
Developers’ notes: Unlike Forbidden Reach, the rare elites in Zaralek Cavern are meant to be a bonus, rather than the primary activity.
This means people were complaining about having to farm rares so they moved them to a 3.5 days reset instead of daily. The rares still drop 1 crest fragment and 10-15 flightstones though. It should be logical to at least triple the amount since they are lootable 2 times a week instead of 7.
I don’t really know about the “increased reward” though. None of the manuscripts or pets (mount lol) that I’m still missing dropped for me just the same way they did not for 2 + weeks when I killed them every day.
People complain about the fact that they have to kill the rares is not really about the 2 minutes it takes to kill 1 rare but mostly about the fact that the time it takes to spawn is the problem instead. The daily spawn system is not the problem. They should make them spawn every 5 minutes not 1-2 hours and that would have been enough.
Most common argument is that “they are called rares so they should not spawn quick”. This is what I say for that:
Rename their term to Unique monsters from Rares. They are unique which means there is only one of them unlike elites where there are many of them. Forget about the Rare indicator because that only implies that they should not be common i.e. not appear frequently which is totally against the system. Once again the problem is the 1-2 hours of spawn time not that we have to kill them each day which takes like 30 mins if they were to spawn fast. Even then you don’t really need to kill all rares every day though only the ones you miss reward from if you care. Best example was Argus rares. Their respawntimer was like 5 minutes and nobody complained. I still hate that I have to go back to Hopecrusher and Ha-Li and camp them for full 1 hour if I want to have the mount one day.
Just to be clear I love the rare farm system in the game I just wish the spawn time was massively reduced entirely in legacy zones as well.
This was the system, that was introduced in Broken Shore, Argus and first two warfronts in BFA (Arathi & Darkshore). In my eyes, the system was absolutely perfect and such a breath of fresh air, compared to Huolon / Tanaan rares.
Obviously they reverted back to the old system, because such things increase the player engagement and the time you’re subbed.
Just for reference, I got all Argus and BFA warfront mounts in 3-4 weeks due to tons of alts. Guess how much time Rustfeather took me? Or even better - Soundless & Arachnoid Harvester? I got rust 3-4 weeks before SL released, and I got the other 2 way into SL. Guess what took the most time - well you’ve guessed it, waiting for the mobs to actually spawn. So pathetic.
Agree. No idea why they insist on this garbage system that forces people who want to do them into waiting around for the spawns for long periods of time. Or the specific time nonsense … who exactly is benefitting from not letting people do the content they want to do when they have time for it???
Yes, agree. Since they’re on a 4 day rotation, a rare should give you 100 reputation. The factions are useless unless you want the cosmetics anyways, so timegating them between WQs that give 75 rep, and this once in a week event (researchers) is useless anyways. I’ve been doing everything but the digs, and I’m at renown 13 still.
One thing rares should also drop, is gold. I really fail to see why they don’t implement this. Especially with such inflation, such high repair costs and such high transmog costs. A rare should drop 1k gold atleast. It’s a rare afterall.
Exactly my point. I farmed them with many characters too and it was fairly quickly back in the days but then came shadowlands which blocked alt farms with covenants.
One good thing to add here, and something they did right. All the covenant mounts that were drop chances, were fairly high drop chances. I’d even say they were around 5%. I got all of them fairly quickly and easy. The ones that were crap dropchances, were just added to the vendor for anima & grateful offerings (The fox from Valfir, and the tauralus from conductor).
By far the worst system ever implemented. I really can’t understand who thought this was a good idea. And on paper, it was absolutely fantastic. In reality? Worst thing I have ever done in the game.
Tons of recipes were uber RNG. Lattices were either rare AF or they were expensive on the AH. The reagents were uber RNG and annoying as hell to get. Not to mention you needed thousands of motes, that only dropped from normal mobs, opposed to rares / chests dropping them, which resulted only in boring devourer spam for hours. What a horrible thing really.
I’m so glad I got all. Never setting foot there again.
I did few of them after this change and i did drop dragoflying glyphs i’m farming so they did buffed it but not that much
it’s a RARE you shouldn’t get items from them in 1 kill
Nobody really said you should drop everything from 1 kill so I don’t know why you bring this up. I’m the one killed Famu in SL 400 times for the mount so I know what I’m talking about. The changes blizzard made is not good. They misunderstood the problem with rare farms and instead of doing a right decision (reducing the spawntimer) they did something else. Also I clarified why the name rare is misleading and should be considered unique monsters instead so nobody can bring this rare thing up.
Exactly this and any other argument is completely delusional.
We have rare mobs that spawn every X hours. These have ridiculously low drop chances for their loot as baseline (1% or less for some like mounts).
Then additionally, these rares are now on a lockout much, much harsher than daily - specific days of the week.
It’s the same damn problem that Reliwik has in Korthia, or Zereth Mortis rares in general (which also are not up all the time).
You kill em once, pray for 1% or less, then you are told to go away and wait for RNG to brind em back in 1-2-3-4 days (sometimes WEEKS! - Mechagon Daily Quests anyone?!).
Legion & BFA Rares were peak gaming, it made people play alts, gear em, farm with em; heck even learn em (oooh my warrior feels nice to play, let’s do some dungeons with it after this!).
This system is dumb, wastes time, and ultimately decreases player participation and engagement.
Nobody wants ****** mount spawns as time blockers in their Outlook for ****'s sake.
Blizzard has perfected the art of taking the little good they do and twisting into a abomination that can only come from the deranged mind of the nublizzard
imagine being so set on shooting your self in the foot 1 step foward 3 steps back every time
