Draenei are close to non-existant in BFA. Did Velen stay on Argus to plant flowers or something? Not only that… but why he is priesting so much? Did I have to remind that he was a MAGE before he started running away? Not only any MAGE~ He was a better mage than his brothers. Velen could beat Jaina with one hand tied behind his back 
he is visually not appealing, so he can stay in the shadows with his purple friends

But you need to understand that the affinity for magic to humans comes natural(titanic origin).
I dont agree with Azshara being the greatest mage that ever lived/living cause there are lot’s of great mages over the curse of WoW’s life spam.Medivh and his mother would pretty much wipe the floar if you ask me with Azshara.

I’m pretty sure it comes from plot armour and bad writing. A 40 year old woman could never hope to compete with beings that are thousands of years old, not draenei not elves.
Draenei have natural affinity for magic as well… Compared to Nigh Elves they never needed magical wells to have power. Thats the only reason why Sargeras tricked Eredar race to join Burning Legion.

“mage” is a very generic title. Pretty much all Draenei from the days of Argus were steeped in arcane magic on a daily basis. Their society was built around it like we rely on electricity. It’s very similar to the Nightborne actually, but without the weird mutation factor.
Yeah but doesn’t he have his own spaceship or summat? That alone takes up lots of story points (the big showoff) 
Not debunking that,but the arcane origin helps humans alot.Also you cant be just master of arts and know/pratice everything at the same time.Yes you know alot,but again you cant channel everything at the same time,and have the focus.
For example who will cast a more powerful Pyroblast?how is it conditioned?..rune magic is the most powerful form of magic but it takes time for preperation.Even after that “Will power” also is affecting the power of the spell.
Im not sure about it she had acces to well of eternity and in books she was describe as extremaly powerfull

You know Kil’jadin that is the helm of the legion, the guy responsible for the lich king etc etc.
Imo Velen as a character is more akin to Thrall’s status than an actual Alliance char.
Both are liked by both the horde and alliance.
He should’ve been a neutral character with an extra story option for neutralist path for both the Alliance and horde, that would’ve been so cool.

I doubt that they have forgotten him; it’s just that he has the power to break through plot armour. Poor Nathanos would not have been able to “ENOUGH!” has way out of Darkshore if Velen was around.

Since when he was a mage? He was always a priest, he was the person who made Anduin to the soy boy he is now. The Pandaren leader, those are characters which really lack on attention! Velen had his spotlight in tbc, wod and legion. 2 expansions in a row!

Before the apparition of the Naaru the Draenei were a magic-based society, with the triumvirate reigning supreme. Only later did Velen go light-mage.
