My game runs fine but outside of the game my 380mb/s connection is reduced to less than 1mb/s. I have tested it on other games but only blizzard games give me this problem. I am unable to watch streams or even load short youtube videos in decent quality while the games are launched, and closing the game immediately returns the speed normal.
I have seeen this issue raised on the US forums last year with no clear fix, can anyone help?
Change the settings so that Battlenet only downloads future patch content whilst WoW is running in play mode.
It seems likely though that you have issues with bandwidth in general if a background download can cause a significant issue? Windows 10 can be very heavy on chatter back to Microsoft through the customer feedback programme and windows update as well - may be worth changing your feedback and update settings and seeing if that also improves the situation
Where you able to fix the issue? I’m experiencing exactly the same where my connection speed is fine until I launch WoW and then it suddenly drops to 0.3mb/s - 2mb/s making the game unplayable.
I was able to finally fix it! After searching the forums I stumbled across this solution:
„Known issue. Go to control panel > network > lan settings and un-check automatically detect settings“
This worked perfectly for me.
Interesting solution (and one that has nothing to do with our games/apps), but given it came 3 years after the original question was asked we’re going to close the thread here.
