Blizzard has abandoned Death Knights and given them "the Undead treatment" in 11.2

I don’t know who at Blizzard decided that Blood Death Knight needed to be dismantled piece by piece but after this new 11.2 content release, it’s clear they’ve completely given up on this spec.

They stripped us of key abilities that defined the class. Abomination Limb one of our few tools to control the battlefield and keep things in range. removed. Anti-Magic Zone gutted. It’s no longer reliable. Gorefiend’s Grasp is buried in unreachable parts of the talent tree like it’s some kind of luxury. This was a core DK ability with 45 sec cooldown. It shouldn’t be something we have to fight to access.

This is a full on butchering. Blood DK is unrecognizable. Utility is trash, the toolkit feels like it was redesigned by someone who’s never played the spec.

Flashy effects and “i wanna feel good” abilities and no respect for what made this class work. It’s all flowers and fairy dust now.

The excuses they give don’t even hold up. There’s no logic here only neglect.

Blood DK deserve better than this.

Glad someone else feels this way, people saying that Abomination Limb was far too OP whilst playing Prot Pala with Divine Toll. Tanking as blood now just feels more of a punishment than enjoyable. Can only hope they either move Gorefiend’s Grasp to a node that is viable to route to or bring back Abomination Limb. :frowning:

They gutted DK with some BS excuse. They want flowers and fairy dust now, DK doesn’t fit that vision. Paladin is broken beyond belief if you compare toolkits. But that’s apparently fine because it’s flowery, happy fits the fantasy blizzard is going with.

Nothing to do at this point except hope we get other devs

Even though I primarily play raids, not M+, the Deathbringer spec has had such a strange rotation this season that I’m really struggling to play it. Sure, I’ll keep playing the class, but it’s leaning more towards fighting the class’s inherent mechanics than the opponents.

Kudos for sticking with it. if you love it, you love it. I really do love Death Knight too sincerely. But this season I’ve basically been forced to swap to something else just to smooth out the runs. I hate it. It’s tough to say. But I’m not going to run around and chase packs with blood boil and just to keep aggro.

It’s more a matter of me not liking changing characters and trying to play only one. It’s a lack of time and pedantic to spend so much time on something and then have to unlock it all over again with a new character. But these changes really test one’s patience.

I’ve spent the last two days playing around with prot paladin and prot warrior, and it’s shocking how broken both of these specs are compared to DK. I knew DK was in a rough spot but I didn’t fully realize just how ridiculously outclassed it was until I started tanking on the warrior.

Near 100% uptime on block, endless interrupts, multiple stuns (including AoE stuns) that line up perfectly with your CDs and on top of that you’re pumping out damage.

Paladin isn’t far behind, but warrior is superior. Both of these tanks have insane utility, survivability.

DK is left in the dust. clunky, undertuned, completely lacking the tools to compete

It’s ridiculous. You can’t even compare them. The gap is that big

It feels like DKs were deliberately sidelined in 11.2. What was the reasoning behind this?

I’ve been playing this game long enough to see class imbalance come and go but this patch is insane. The devs have absolutely lost it. DK has been completely gutted and left to rot.

AMZ is stronger than before, they removed the mitigation cap. Gorefiends is more accesible than before, you’re meant to drop Bloodshot and trade less damage fro more utility.

AMZ stronger in raid , its nerfed im M+ ,did come with a cost of a bigger CD tho so no free rides here , Gorefiend didnt change its position in the latest rework and its universally hated by all of the 3 blood DKs playing the spec.
Blood dps was lowest among tanks , it did get a flat % buff because of this ,last thing we need is lower our output damage further.
Also not taking Bloodshot is another shot?! in the foot since it increases the shield from DS by increasing phis damage you do with DS so its not really a option if you think about it.
