Blizzard hates pvp

Well pvp was always about sweaty minmaxing munchkins … but blizz literally just reworked huge part of gearing process in wotlk, that unfortunately also affects PvP …

The least they could do was adding hateful/savage weapons for example (weapons that already existed in the wotlk since start, and weapons they partially added into the game - wands, relics and hunter melee weapons) …
Or just buffing the stupid pvp items in same way they did with pve …

So yeah, same as blizz shares blame for not preventing megarealms since everyone knows “people are like that”
So does blizz share blame for not trying to at least help pvp since everyone knows “people are like that”

Not to mention as someone who plays wow pretty much only for pvp, blizz was trying to kill pvp in wow for past 15 years …

That’s basically what Brack was trying to tell you, it won’t be the same experience, it can’t, you don’t want to go back.

So PvP, a player based system is not attracting players and you think that it’s Blizzards fault? If it’s not 100% then it’s 95% players who won’t PvP.

Honestly, let’s face it, players on PvP realms don’t want to PvP anymore since most are now considered one sided realms, kin to PvE realms.

There might be some small problems but that wouldn’t stop most people PvPing.

While I was addressing arenas, you seem to address primarily open world pvp, so id like to address that specific point.

I agree that today less people think open world pvp is fun than back in the day. One reason was probably the tons of “open world pvp” videos and the overall more casual mindset of many players.

Back in the day servers became close to one faction servers, too, but not to a degree it is today. As said, in vanilla classic, open world pvp was used by so many people, that it became unenjoyable for many players, and as soon as one faction had significantly less active players, the faction side was bound to be doomed, since playing open world became borderline unplayable. This forced more and more players to swap servers, since the issue only grow bigger.

The biggest factor concerning mono faction servers in classic were the free and time limited transfers to any destination desired. This put pressure on the players, since they saw multiple big guilds leave, saw friends leave, and no individual wanted to be left behind on a dead faction side. This is a psychological effect causing a self-fulfilling prophecy that players cannot be blamed for, since it was Blizzards decision to make these free transfers available and without Blizzards transfer option, this would never have happened.

The reason servers became mono faction “faster” than they did naturally back in the day, is to a degree, as you say, the players mindset, but at least to a similar degree the server sizes and first and foremost the free transfers. Without the transfers, many servers like Firemaw, which was pretty balanced (around 40-60 faction balance), would not have never become mono faction servers or at least not within a few days, as they did. As far as I can tell, its definitely not 100% the players fault, and 95% isnt close to the truth either. With a faithfully recreated classic experience, with original server sizes and good server management with free transfers from full servers to small servers for specific factions to balance them out, I am 100% sure there wouldnt be only mono faction pvp servers today.

To be fair, you did say it was 100% player led which isn’t really true.

I remember following in-depth the patch notes back in the day. They nerf some abilities that players complain about, but in-turn buff something else that would obviously be overpowered that isn’t just for balancing, so people complain about that, then they nerf it and buff something else - repeat repeat repeat. All this PvP drama must be great for them.

It doesnt help player participation with broken stuff. There is really few hunters for example. Sure hunters arent fotm but they are far from weak.

So why so few? Cause they have a load of annoying broken mechanics. From pet getting stuck in dalaran start zone, server ticks making them miss trap as the major ones.

Your points are true and valid. It’s a terrible situation for PvP enjoyers right now, but they don’t hate PvP persay, they just have no active Wotlk developers because they care more about an extra 60k for their bonus pot.
