I’d agree, but I kinda feel that the idea of a consistent game world is dead by now, so focussing on it could just be highlighting how lacking it is today. We’re so far into the “in their heart everyone wants peace, and conflict is an imposition that only comes through outside coercion” thing that I see little to no way out.
Now, showcasing classes is another matter… but on that I’d light to highlight that Legion, the class-addon, was actually the only one that gave us the team of peers I was talking about. I can see how 12+ classes with their own sets of characters might not have been viable long-term for Blizzard, but there are quite a lot of numbers between that and zero…
I can understand Jaina in Nazjatar but why tf is Greymane there? If they needed a bitter character ruthlessly hunting down Nathanos and Sylvanas, Tyrande was right there to use. I was honestly jealous of the horde, their cast was perfectly chosen there.
Lor’themar and Thalyssra are nothing to be jealous about really. We never had any actual cool elves. Just replacements and fillers.
Thalyssra and Lor’themar were a perfect fit for Nazjatar. Their roots come from Azshara’s kingdom, so they had a strong connection to her. Lor’themar leads a people who can be called the heirs of her Imperium, Thallysra even lived when Azshara was still an elf.
What did the Alliance have there at that time? Jaina might fit there as a mage (Azshara’s former main), but nothing more. Genn was just there as a grumpy grandpa whose job was to be a wet dog joke.
I way more enjoy Horde questing in the zone.
Jaina actually holds the title as most powerful mage alive and showed Azshara how true mastery looks without a magical well.
meh, I still bet she could easily solo Jaina using only Arcane.
Writers have a strange obsession portraying Jaina as the strongest wherever she goes. Confrontation with Azshara was a breeze of a fresh air. When she start panicking due to the teleport block I chuckle a little.
