Dear Blizzard Team,
I wanted to provide some feedback and propose a quality-of-life improvement regarding Chaos Orbs in World of Warcraft’s current phase.
Currently, Chaos Orbs are Bind on Pickup (BoP), which limits their utility, especially for players with multiple alts or crafting professions. As I recall, they were changed to Bind on Equip (BoE) in Phase 4 during the Dragon Soul patch. However, by that point in the game, the demand for Chaos Orbs diminishes significantly due to the influx of new gear, rendering the change less impactful.
Proposal:
- Consider making Chaos Orbs Bind on Equip (BoE) now, allowing them to be traded or sold.
- Alternatively, make Chaos Orbs Bind on Account (BoA), enabling players to transfer them between characters on the same account.
Benefits of Early Change:
- Enhanced Crafting Flexibility: Players can use Chaos Orbs across their alts, promoting crafting and gear creation without being limited by the character that acquires the Orbs.
- Alt-Friendly Environment: Many players are actively leveling and gearing alts in this phase, and this change would align perfectly with that playstyle, creating a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.
- Timely Utility: Implementing this change now ensures that Chaos Orbs retain their relevance while they are still in high demand, rather than waiting until Phase 4 when their importance diminishes.
This adjustment would foster a more dynamic and flexible crafting ecosystem and align with the community’s desire to make the game more alt-friendly. It would also encourage more interaction within the economy, benefiting the player base as a whole.

If you allow BoA, then everyone will be needing on every chaos orb, because “they have an alt with that profession” … I don’t think that’s a good suggestion.

That happens anyway in 90% of runs because people know they go BoE next phase.

that means their price will be low, because everyone will have them
Blizzard will do nothing that costs work while gaining them nothing. This is an example.
Thank you for your perspective, Yèlýtø. I understand your concern about Chaos Orbs potentially being “needed on” by everyone if they were made BoA or BoE. However, I believe this issue can be mitigated and doesn’t outweigh the broader benefits of the proposed changes. Allow me to elaborate:
Needing Already Happens
As I mentioned, many players already “need” Chaos Orbs in runs, knowing they’ll become BoE in the next phase. This behavior isn’t new and isn’t directly tied to my suggestion. By making Chaos Orbs BoA or BoE now, we’d simply formalise their flexibility and utility, encouraging players to craft and trade earlier rather than hoarding them for a future patch.
Impact on Prices and Supply
While it’s true that increased availability could reduce the price of Chaos Orbs, this doesn’t diminish their overall utility or demand in the current phase. Many players, especially those with alts or crafting professions, would benefit greatly from having broader access. Reduced prices may even stimulate the economy by making crafted items more affordable and accessible.
Crafting Flexibility Benefits All Players
The goal isn’t solely about Chaos Orb pricing but about fostering an ecosystem where more players can engage in crafting and gear creation, regardless of whether they focus on a single character or multiple alts. A BoA or BoE change would empower players who actively participate in the crafting economy, creating more opportunities for trade and interaction.
Ultimately, the intent of my suggestion is to create a more dynamic, alt-friendly, and engaging experience for players during this phase of the game. By implementing this change now, Chaos Orbs retain their relevance while benefiting the widest audience, rather than being relegated to a mostly irrelevant mechanic by Phase 4.
Thanks for taking the time to engage in this discussion. Your input is valuable, and I hope this clarifies my perspective!

I hope your wrong but sadly, I fear you are right.
