Blizzard are reactive in nature. They don’t investigate a name until it is reported, and it can take some time, it doesnt happen right away.
Even with addons out there it’s still really and
to see folks what think names like Töpwärriør and stuff like that’s remotely a good name.
People should abide my standards tee bee hee.
What I find amusing is when a name like that shows up on Customer Support forums and being extremly agressive that they lost it, like it was some priceless artifact and amazingly clever thing which can never be re-created.
Makes me wonder about that trend where character names are just adjectives.
I personally try to have a “fitting” name for the server and it’s naming convention rules, however I am much in the “does it really matter when majority uses TRP/MRP?” camp. I can see why people prefer one thing, but I also see the opposite side of it.
On the other hand the naming rule is… Oddly enforced, I recall a friend got his character name changed forcefully back when we both played on Moonglade and to this day we still both question in what way “Wreath” is breaking ToS.
I came here to have a good time and I feel attacked rn
Ah, mister Sixtyseventy. We meet again.
You can, mouse over his name and look at where the link goes. Steamedhams-frostmane.
Huh. Cool.
It’s actually because I was tired of people using the character I have set against me. For example, “Bro what would you know, you haven’t even done X yet” or “You only have Y of this, so you don’t matter”. It was easier to just turn it off
Can relate with this. The amount of posts I see in the General forums where people try to tear down someone just based on their mythic score or what raids they’ve cleared is ridiculous. Can be entirely irrelevant to the point they were trying to make as well.
They’d have a field day with me.
That’s a fair point yeah. There is an surprisingly large amount of people who think that because you dont have “X” aribtrary achivement, your opinion is entierly invalid.
I just always wonder if people who replace the B with ß realise/know that ‘ß’ (es-zett) is pronounced as a sharp S
That’s what a lvl 110 would be saying
Sadass : )
TRP doesn’t cover everything. The name floating about other people’s heads, or what you see in the UI when you select or party with them is not affected by TRP.
Even if your name is “Lillian Flowerchild” in TRP, it’d still be annoying if your character name was “Flówèrgrrl”…
I don’t really care what a character is called IC, if the OOC name is some meme reference or joke (indebutt, steamedhams, owowhatsthis) I just don’t wanna interact with them. It’s embarrassing at best.
Just don’t be a and make the minimal effort that is getting a setting-appropriate name. It’s really that simple.
A lot of people do it, sometimes it makes sense but is it truly against the policy?
I think in Contrite’s case it’s actually part of his character’s name (oh those crazy Akundas).
But generally, it’s pretty tolerable. It can work as a descriptor of the character, and doesn’t look as -y as (insert meme that was funny 3 months ago)
