Blizzard please do smth about spam in chat

I still find it funny how people keep complaining of the spam, are fully aware for BadBoy, but still refuse to help themselves, out of some misguided principle that they shouldn’t need to help themselves.

Of course you shouldn’t need to. Everyone agrees on that. But you can, you can make trade usable for you with about 5 minutes of “work”. Takes less effort than complaining on the forums, too. And also reduces the spam here. Everyone wins, so why are you guys refusing to improve your quality of life in-game?

Booster defending boosters…

IMO they should just make separate channels for them

/4 service channel

I actually made a macro for new alts to leave /1 /2 /3

Even if you get the badboy addon , trade is still empty because it’s simply easier to leave the whole channel.

And new players? Those people have no clue about addons or anything. It also super offputing. Imagine you are new player and you step for very firt time into Stormwind and all you see is Nova community trying to sell you boosts for end game. Game for such player has to feel like some kind of mobile p2w chines game. No matter if its legal or not it ruins game integrity.

I stay convinced that it is hurting the game in the long run indeed

Said the very same in other posts, but noone seems gave a s. about it sadly.

I might have to say that Nova in particular has a very bad reputation in itself and boosters from all other communities are explicitly forbidden from boosting for Nova Community as otherwise they will be removed and blacklisted by the other communities.

Point is: Boosting standards changing so drastically is anther issue ontop of an issue. Or in Novas case even going as far as disrespecting customers.

It wouldn’t be empty if everyone who wants to use it, would install BadBoy. (It would be full of TF & Dirge spam, or random banter, but that’s beside the point.)

I’m fairly sure many - most? - new players will inform themselves about the game prior to installing it. Like, they’ll look on Reddit, or on the forums, or discover Wowhead. If they spend more than 5 minutes on either of those, they’ll know about addons, and will get pointed to Curseforge.

It’s a very simple step from there to just search for “spam block” on there, and install the first hit: BadBoy.

Almost comical how you’re asking of a new player to have to download an addon to not get blasted with permanent continuous spam like that’s a normal thing

Guys, I know trade channel is for trade but what is currently going on there hardly can be called trading, it’s just neverending spam. And forget about trade channel, other main channels like general and defense are cursed as well.

I see the reaction of people in this thread and it clearly shows this problem affected many people and got their attention. So it would be nice if Blizzard addressed this issue with the players.

I don’t really have much experience with other MMOs, but I saw how trade looks on Lineage 2 - a bunch of people sit still with their ads in one place. So maybe something like that we could try for WoW.

I’m not saying it is normal. I’m saying that even for a new player, it is very easy to fix, once encountered.

If I was a new player and I had to do that to avoid 24/7 spam I’d quit. This is not some sort of Chinese Mmo

If you were a new player, and you wouldn’t do the simplest thing to improve your game, then yes, quitting would be best for you.

When growing up, something I learned very quickly, is that if I can improve things around me, and do it myself, I will. I’m not seeing what’s so hard about it.

Yes, the world around us - in real life as in Azeroth - is not always a pleasant place. There are annoyances here and there, the web is littered with ads, so is Trade. So what do we do? Do we march on Google and the other big ad businesses, and wait for them to fix the problem? No. We install an ad blocker. Is that the best solution? No, not by far. Would it be better if we didn’t have to do it in the first place? Yes, it would be. But until others do something about it, we can improve the situation ourselves. I’m not seeing why we shouldn’t.

Ehmmm…thats not entirely true anymore.

yeah but this has to be enforced by blizzard, nothing we can do about it except installing an addon. this has been going on for literal years now. people keep complaining but nothings happening. if you ask me, i wouldnt wait until blizzard does something about it. i d just install an addon and be done with it.

Blizzard doesn’t care as it contributes to token sales, the best thing you can do is just leave trade chat permanently.

You can already report them. There’s a dedicated report option specifically for this.

Any boost spam in any place other than the trade channel, I instantly report. Recently seen some people using shouts in Dazar’Alor → instant report.

Not sure if that is against the ToS. Advertising in LFG on the other hand has been stated to be forbidden and i report them myself. Especially since its annoying when im trying to pug. Really should configure my BadBoy for that.
