Judging by how low subscribtion/df sales numbers were over the years, we can asume that the majority of the wow players base disliked wow “modern” direction. Also we need to consider that a big part of the current subscribtion numbers, are players that still play a 2004/2009 version of the game that has no updates. Its crazy that people still preffer and pay for that over the 2023 version of it. So it should make you think.
My point is that the players that are left here on retail servers, dont really know what’s healthy or good for the game. Their points of view usually are the reasons the majority of the people left. So please dont listen just them because they seem more vocal.
They just seem more vocal because they are the majority out of a minority that are still playing (small number compared to what wow used to have). They are the people that supports the bad changes that wow did to the game. But the majority out of the whole wow player base dont like that. That’s why they are not subscribed anymore. That’s why what’s left of them play on classic servers. So if you want to get big subscribtions numbers again, you need to make the game more appealing for the people that left or the people that play on classic servers, and less for the current state of wow supporters. There’s where the loyality and big money is.

As a player who have been playin since release in 2004 i can tell you that majority of players play retail. Some of people like all grindy ways but that is completely up to them. But as our renowned Dr Mercury once said: “Show must go on”

Blizzard don’t listen to, or even read these forums, they look at their own metrics and MAU’s.
As stated on your other thread if the the data shows that more people are really playing Classic/Classic:Wrath than are playing Retail then that is the direction in which Blizzard will move the game as it is the direction into which they will make the most revenue.
Not sure they work like that. It took a massive populated private server to make them realize how many people are willing to play the old version of wow because the current one is no good for them. They didn’t expected how many people came back just for the classic wow servers.
Blizz know how many (Or few) people play classic, and “Don’t listen to your paying customers!” isn’t the winning marketing strategy you seem to think it is…
Blizzard, please don’t listen to people who are trying to drag the game back 20 years just to relive their old memories. We need INNOVATION, MODERNISATION , don’t go back, improve further beyond these people’s expectations.

on a more serious note, yes, we need that. But we also need to keep what was good in this game. What it made it trully unique and people used to love about it.

There is a reason there are people who are still playing retail and not playing classic.
There are also people who play both and enjoy them for what they are.
You did not really provide any information about what it is that makes classic better than retail.
I enjoy leveling in classic more than retail but that is pretty much it.
When it comes to endgame I like retail more.
Though the setting of the world feels darker and more serious in classic compared to retail which I greatly prefer, but that is a problem with todays storytelling in media over all.

Sure, but they’re playing another version of WoW. Which they got.
So why do they feel the need to ALSO change ‘our’ version into something that resembles ‘theirs’ more? That is what I don’t get. They want to get it all; how very very selfish and greedy.
Now, if they were to propose a new version of WoW Classic; let’s call it Classic+ with new content, but based on the old ruleset and ‘values’, then sure… Go ahead.
But no; they want to change the 1 version that ‘we’ have. We aren’t running around asking Blizzard to change Classic and make it more like retail, are we? (well; I’m sure SOMEONE is, but it sure is a lot more rare than the other way around).
Also; ‘we’ aren’t asking Blizzard to not listen to classic players. I think everyone gets to have an opinion and voice it. But the OP is asking for exactly that; disregarding part of the playerbase so they can get ‘their’ way.
