Blizzard, please implement a crafting item recycling system!

Hello, community! I’m writing this post because I’ve run into two issues with the item crafting system. I’ve been away from the game for quite some time, and the new crafting system is completely new to me.

The first mistake I made was not fully understanding the Spark system. I crafted a 2H weapon at 619, and then another at 636, which cost me two Sparks—completely wasted.

The second issue was that I didn’t realize some items come with embellishments already applied. As a result, I crafted a ring with an embellishment that is totally useless for me.

Of course, I won’t make the same mistakes again, but it’s pretty frustrating that there’s no mechanism to undo a crafting mistake or recycle crafted items. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind losing the crafting materials or even only recovering half the Sparks used.

As it stands, though, if you mess up, you’re just out of luck.

you just learn from your mistakes and one thing i have found useful is to go to youtube and first look at a video .that saves you from alot of headaches afterwards

No, I’m completely with him and I haven’t even done this mistake.

Having time gated and limited ressources and the ability to completely waste them is really stupid.

I have a friend who was looking for an AGI dagger for his rogue in trade chat. Some guy told him he can craft it, told him the name, my friend opened a crafting order for that dagger and missed that the dagger said “INT” instead of AGI.

Now he’s down 1 Spark and 90 Crests. Should he have checked the daggers stats beforehand? Absolutely. But he relied on the crafter and that bit him in his a**… this game should give you some sort of possibiliy to reverse at least some of the damage done.
Some kind of disenchant method that at least gets you back your sparks and crests.

It’s the same thing with item upgrades. If you accidentally upgrade your hero gear to 5/6 instead of 4/6, you’ve permanently wasted 15 crests.

And yes, they are permanently wasted because Mythic track gear stats at 623 and hero 5/6 is also 623. So you can’t even make use of the discount system to upgrade the mythic track item. It’s just 15 crests lost in the void for every 5/6 hero item.

This is WoW, you need to spend several hours researching on external, third party websites before you start to play.

I love the way how you passive-aggressively phrased that.

Yep and one of the biggest reasons they cannot get new players to stay. Nobody wants to go get a degree to play a game.

Then again I don’t see a problem with that scrap machine we had in legion and BFA that you could scrap you gear. If it hurts blizzard butt that bad they can just give back the sparks and they can keep their precious gold sink mats.

I prefer to craft nothing. And when i have to craft that 1 item in the season i share my screen in discord and a friend tells me where to click. It is just way too complicated.

Surely a simpler solution is to just remove the sparks entirely, people still need to obtain the mats, including the crest stuff, but aren’t punished for buying the wrong thing quite so much.

They are though. The enchanted crest costs 90 crests. That’s an entire weeks worth of crest cap. That is a big deal. Sure, sparks are more scarce because you only get one every other week but just losing 90 crests to… nothing is still big thing.

I agree and I’ll add another option,

Let us re-roll our knowledge points like we used to with Talent points in vanilla. I messed up big time and can’t craft weapons or armour
