I understand that this is somewhat of a small issue compared to everything else that is wrong with this expansion/game but It’s really annoying how little agency we have when it comes to our own characters thoughts and feelings.
What am I talking about? So I resubbed to check out 9.2, and right of the game I’m suddenly BFFs with Pelegos, every single line of dialogue from that guy is emotionally validating me, telling me what a great hero I am and what not. My character knows next to nothing about this guy and I absolutely hate this NPC (no not because of his gender identity).
The other instance I saw this issue was when I unlocked popcornbot and to complete the quest I had to click the only dialogue options that was “He is cute”. No Blizzard, I do not find popcornbot to be “cute”.
I realize that this type of thing has probably been in the game for a long time due to the limitation of the spagety code or whater other excuse you could think of but I feel like it’s becoming more and more noticeable now.
So Blizzard, please stop assuming how our characters feel towards NPC and uhm… inanimate objects I guess. If you have limitations in giving us dialogue choices and NPC then responding accordingly, then stop writing those NPCs as if we made such a choice. I would rather be the unnamed hero/mercenary than “Best Friends/Enemies” with an NPC I know next to nothing about, let me get to know them and then decide for myself if I like them or not.

Choosing your own pet to summon is cool.
Having a pet shoved down your throat is not. And no, I don’t like this ball with legs.
I even disliked it when they did it in Legion with the BM artifact weapon.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked having 2 pets then, THAT was a dream come true.
But having Hati forced on me kinda took the buzz out of it. I didn’t like the model, I didn’t like the name. Now, sure players discovered methods to change Hati into other creatures for a while and that was fun. My Hati was a cockroach for a long time. But yeah…
Point is… Choice. Is. Always. Better.
But I guess that’s just a very small point in your post.
I get where you’re coming from and yeah it would be cool to have very different options for how you want your character to react to something/someone… Just for flavour of course, nothing actually story altering.
Thats the whole point I was trying to make (poorly). However I understand that Blizzard are very bad at implementing “choice” (cough* covenants* cough) so I would also be satisfied if we didn’t get to make a choice but the NPCs also didn’t react as if we made one.
It was almost always that Blizzard made the choices for our relations with NPCs on us in WoW. It is just feeling more awkward now because in the later years the players are working more closely with NPCs instead of just being famous adventurers for hire

Pelagos is golden. Technically speaking the place where the previous Arbiter was located is a “throne” of sorts…
If I’m right then the crown that the Primus had crafted is the one referred to in the lines.
Now all he needs to do is deceive everyone, and place this crown on the new Arbiter’s head, and then we may discover what the Crown of Wills really is. Is it a crown to bring only darkness…?
Oh and there’s the Dread Portal in Zereth Mortis. I think the demons would recognise “their boss” if the Primus went there.
Just wanted to point this out. He may not have much backstory but as they say… it’s the quiet ones you need to be weary of…
Its not. Its just the tumblr twitter devs forcing the le hecking cute and wholesome memes onto us that have been overdone at this point. I’m surprised they haven’t made a reference towards sir this is a wendys or added a hecking woofer pupperino mount or a fat cat mount called the hecking chonker.
