In cata before rogues had legendary dagger, I think… But beside that I can’t remember a single time where RMX wasn’t at least very decent (mostly op tho).
rogues where pretty aids with vial of shadows.
The wizzard trinkets were 10 times more faceroll imo. 
HC Cunning of Cruel and Deathwing Dagger on my Moonkin/Shadow Priest mowing down everyone in RBGs as a filthy PVEer was more aids imo. Watching shadowbolts fly across the map from the GY when you’re dead too was so funny.
I think in legion season 1 rogue mage got farmed by wwdk and was basically a troll comp because every second team was a ww/dk.
until of course nerfs did hit them and destroyed WW as whole and made DK balanced somewhat but not really just destroyed frost too
