Clearly they cannot or are simply unwilling to try and make the servers work well with these kind of events (Time Rifts, Bloom, and Radiant Echoes), so you end up lagging so much that all you can do realistically is just try and tag mobs. You can’t even dragonride properly cause there’s so much lag. It’s boring.
Instead of making open world events, make more instanced scenarios, MoP style. If you want to keep the world relevant, make an NPC that only spawns during the event that you have to go to if you wish to participate.
Most of the work has already been done. There are steps that you follow and radiant bosses have a semblance of mechanics to them. It just needs to be instanced in a 5 man format. They don’t have to be difficult at all but this way they hopefully won’t make the servers lag.
It’s funny how they got a useless system that readily phases you to another layer automatically while you’re minding your own business alone waiting for a rare to spawn, fighting a rare, doing a world event like Fyrakk Assault or Bane Keep, etc. for it to just phase you out to another layer screwing you over completely…
Yet the same system is incapable of capping a layer thinning out the layer from becoming a lag fest ending up with 80+ people in an area…
Just give us selectable layers we can choose at our own discretion please like many other MMOs such as FF14 that show the population of a layer, and blocking people from joining it once it hits its limit [top right corner above minimap, drop down list showing green/orange/red]…
This honestly astounds me. I don’t understand how when I was doing achievements for Taivan I kept getting phased out of the hunt I was participating in, getting stuck in shards with less progress but now, now that we need it to be aggressive, it’s like nah fam, this is good.
ID based open world events (each player/class gets a number assigned and they have a separate region to go to, spreading the workload across multiple subservers)
As already suggested, no Pre-Patch events with timers anymore
Repeatable-Quests based pre-patch system (you complete a quest, get another, complete it, get another - all with individual/group tasks)
Is is NEVER going to be as bad as events that are actually in the open world. Sure instances are not exempt from lag - I experienced lag in Sanctum on Sylvanas when it was current content, and Alterac Valley lags to this day. But a 5 man scenario would never lag that bad.
The only way they work better in open world is to make them spawn in multiple locations at the same time so the load is spread rather than everyone in Dragonblight.
Allowing the boss to spawn more than once each active zone would alleviate traffic. If it was a constant cycle while active not everyone would need to be there on the dot.
There are other things they can do. Even sharding more aggressively would help.
Yeah this is really getting tiresome. They don’t seem to care at all that the game can’t be played without having wowhead open or having addons to track down all the events and their timers.
Even aside from tracking them, just waiting around for an available event feels stupid. It’s a tough problem to solve because if all the events were up at all times, there’s a greater chance that there won’t be anyone there for you to complete the event with…
Maybe they should utilize the scaling tech, like they used to do with rares. So they took a reasonable amount of time to kill even if you were alone, not like Zaralek ones.
Normally it isn´t “that” bad IME, but when it is, it´s absolutely horriffic…
I know multiple players incl myself that aren´t even accepting weekly quests anymore, because they “know” that they´ll just participate in the entire Feast /Siege /Hunt /RUF and get phased out right before they can collect the reward, so why waste all that time for the piddly few gold… Which unfotunately has turned a lot of players like myself into raidloggers that previously weren’t.
I get the point behind phasing, but this is just ridiculous at this point… Now, if someone gets phased out last minute for being afk and leeching, that´s a win in my book, even though probably not intentional.
But please, for the love of Elune, stop phasing out the very people actually participating in the events
Sorry, but it´s just frustrating at best… you use WoWhead and /or Weakauras to not miss the event, then you participate, and the game straight up says “Thank you for helping everyone else and GFYS, please come back in 1-1,5 hours and try again”.
I assumed when mini-bosses had around 4.4m hp that blizz was actually thoughtful about the decline of interest so people could solo them as soon as the event would have had fewer attendees. Now they have 8.8m hp because they didn’t like m+/mythic raiders could kill them in no time. Once these players are gone it becomes a slogfest. Ohh wait, it already is. Wonderful event. lol
