And my point is that an in-game character knows where the mounts that exsist in-game come from. And since that mount is suddenly there - no in-game / lore explanation given, my character is free to think that it comes from somewhere dishonest (please note my point is very academic and not practical. Until yesterday I did not even play TBCC).
This would actually be fine, if you had a letter in-game after buying the pack, and you could then go and get the mount say in the Visitor’s centres.
As it is now it’s just there - out of nowhere as it is - and many players obviously imagine that you did some not OK actions to be revarded with the mount
Yeah but that doesn’t bother me. I mean… We have hundreds of mounts nowadays… Should I imagine I have a HUUUUUGE stable somewhere (without even owning my own house!) and I’m magically plucking them from there whenever I ‘summon’ my mount? I mean… At the end of the day, this is still just a game.
But an ingame storefront could be fun. Heck; they could even have a little area where you could, ingame, view the mounts, gear or pets. With actual lighting and such.
Then, lore vise. From WHERE is this mount? Am I free - as my in game character (I main a Holy Paladin) - to think that it came from some suspicious activity, as I do not know from wheer it came? And the rumours are ripe that there’s bribing and possibly shady activities involved in getting this mount. As a Holy Paladin, would I despise such persons? Yes. Would I /spit at them, probably not, but I would not wilfully consort with them.
I think that totally depends on the mount.
Apply lore reasons on a per mount basis.
Some fit certain settings or factions very well (Illidari Felstalker, Enchanted Fey Dragon, Iron Skyreaver, Luminous Starseeker etc), so they could originate from a specific place of faction. Others (Sapphire Skyblazer, Hogrus, Winged Guardian etc etc) seem more ‘supernatural’ and maybe they just ‘chose their rider’.
Maybe they were tamed or befriended out in the wild somewhere.
We’re in a thread discussing the /spit emote being altered in TBCC.
We’re discussing the reson(s) behind why characters in-game would /spit on the ovners of the Reawakened Phase Hunter, that is the ONLY store bought mount in TBCC. So no, I’m patently NOT asking you to give me the lore behind a zillion mounts that do not exist for me or my characters in Classic Era / TBCC. I don’t even play Retail.
I just found out where this fugly mount comes from. Landro Longshot in Booty Bay. If there ever was a shady dealer it’s him. People receiving anything from him are not the sort any self respecting Paladin would touch with a 16" pole, thank you very much!
PS: I know Vanillataur is not a Holy Paladin, but no way I’ll be posting on my main.
Well if you don’t like it, then you can always go play some of the many other games out there that allow you to spit on other players, such as…such as…umm…well I’m sure there are many. After all, only Blizzard could be so cruel as to not have this crucial feature in their game, because all other games have it…right? Right?
So ‘excuse me’ for not limiting my thoughtstream to a version of the game I don’t care ANYTHING about and might as well not even exist as far as I am concerned.
Jeez.
Now, with all that said; my previous comment applies just as well to that particular mount.
So there’s that.
