Every business has their “ups and downs”.
I am sure that eventually WoW will fade into obscurity and ultimately into history books. Since nothing lasts for ever.

And that’s why Blizzard tried to push for Diablo immoral, with all backfire.
Regarding consoles platforms, I don’t think they are going to fail that hard, since there are still a lot of hardcore gamers out there that want to play on this kind of device, more especially for exclusive games that are not being remade on PC.
This being said, Apple was in deep trouble in late 80’s and looking where they are nowadays, I would assume that Acti-Blizzard is going to be alive and well for quite some times.
but the thing is wishing activision dead is like wishing EA dead they are simply to big for that happen anytime soon it’s a shame since EA keeps destroying good developers to feed their greed but thats the reality as long as they keep pumping out sports games the zombie masses will buy it
That’s what I implied when I made a parallel with Apple. Activision-Blizzard is in fact too big too fail. As regarding EA, they at least know how to make proper remaster.
But I wish they would be less greedy regarding Dice, because after Battlefield V disaster…
i’m more upset that they spent a billion on a 10 year exclusive star wars license and keep canceling star wars games they created like 2 and half star wars games and the contract is almost up i think such effort
have not played the battlefield series since 2 … so ages ago the only ea game i generally buy is the sims at least that maintain a certain standard even if its sometimes really buggy
Battlefront II + lootboxes was quite a big drama to watch out !
As regarding Battlefield, I have to say that launch is pretty bad but Dice always turns the tides. They didn’t in the last title tought.
I was gonna write something, but I can’t top that one. Well done, sir.
If a company were to make an MMO with awesome dungeons and raids for PS5/XSX that’s as beautiful as WoW, with deep yet well-balanced game-play systems, long-term progression and replay-value, they could significantly reduce WoW’s subscription numbers.
Destiny and Borderlands are way too shallow - they only have like 3 DPS classes. Diablo 3 has deep and well-designed game-play systems and an amazing loot system, but it’s also just a hack-and-slash game. Those games don’t have any dungeons or raids that require 5+ players to execute complex tactics to win like in WoW.
Overwatch 2 is promising some new PvE content, but if it’s anything like the PvE season events in Overwatch 1, it’s going to get repetitive very quickly and players will get bored after a few days. And it probably won’t have any persistent progression except for cosmetic stuff.
WoW is so huge that it’s extremely hard for a company to create a competing product. But I think if a game were to focus on multi-player PvE dungeons and raids, it could be possible to create a worthy competitor, at least for some of WoW’s features.
Let me get this right, a company is worth over 4 billion (almost 5) and it’s dead?
“The Official Organization for WoW’s Doomsayers” says: Yes!
I would totally watch this!!!
How is anyone supposed to take this seriously? I’ll try. They can buy any company they like. Problem solved.
Also, maybe there is an end to the mobile growth and people will decide the small screens are giving them RSI and buy a proper computer again.
Things are changing fast enough as it is, let alone during a crisis like we are in now.
If I want prophecies I’ll read the works of proper economists.
Oh another RIP Blizzard topic. These have only been around since Vanilla.
It may even be more accurate than the current system.

Can I interest you and Dottie in a YouTube Patreon plan?

In school I had a physics teacher who would call people “monkey” if they got under 25% on a 1-of-4 multiple-choice exam. And yes, a few people (not me though) got that “monkey achievement”.
I hope Activsion Blizz buys its own stock out and becomes privately owned again. Investors are the scourge to gaming. If you’re looking at this and say “poor Blizz…” I say “Hell, yeah!”
The only reason Blizz is underperforming is that WoW doesn’t have lootboxes and has by far the objectively best itemshop out of any online game. Every time there’s a store mount there’s some idiot who cancels their sub and goes to FFXIV, only to find their itemshop much more expansive than WoW’s. In fact, Activision in general is holding out unlike any other developer. EA is scum, Ubisoft puts microtransactions in exclusively single-player games and designs them around you buying microtransactions and Activision… they hope a mobile game can be a success so they can fuel their games with outdated monetization models and a complete refusal to modernize their ability to suck money out of your pocket. This is why Activision is doing bad.
Ultimately, I hate investors and I hate the modern trend of companies being entirely fueled by short-term debts. If you’re wondering why gaming monetization is becoming garbage, that’s why - because making money isn’t enough. You need to make more money than you did before, because you have a debt to pay, with interest. So while you’re complaining that there’s a store mount to incentivize 6 month subs, just check out what every single other game is doing. Then you’ll see why Activision isn’t doing as well.
To the topic most games have a 5 year cycle then they go away. In Blizzard they have a loyal base which is dwindling on a yearly base. World of Warcraft have gone more than the 5 year Cycle/Hearthstone and other Blizzard titles. That is a problem for the company sooner or later they have to bring out at least a new title at least 4/5 years in the areas they operate. At present Cov 19 has helped them but that bubble has burst for the gaming people move on new things which Blizzard has not.
if any corporate lawyer talking always assume hes lying. 100% true
what if a corporate lawyer says “I am lying”?

Same as dividing by zero, the universe ends and Big Bang creates another one, somewhere else in the multiverse space time continuum.
