Blizzard why do Classic players get "reduced input lag", but retail doesn't?

I just started playing Classic and noticed horrible keyboard and mouse delay but I completely solved this simply by enabling “reduce input lag” in settings. I came back to retail but noticed the same lag, so I went to settings but this option is GONE. Learned from a forum post that Blizzard removed it in patch 8.1.5. So I guess I can’t play retail then because Blizzard removed the ability to reduce input lag. GG. Great decision Blizzard.

If I remember correctly Vsync causes input lag, try disabling that if you have it on.

Vsync is disabled. The fact that I completely solved this problem in Classic by enabling “reduce input lag” shows that a built-in solution already existed, but Blizzard destroyed it by removing it from settings in retail wtf…

Probably many of you have lag as well but are so used to it you don’t notice anymore. If you have Classic installed then enable this option in settings and see if there’s a big difference like for me. Once you play with zero lag in Classic it’s impossible to go back to retail.

maybe the addon adavanced interface options has it built in.

You’re probably mistaking input lag for spell batching.

No it even lags when typing or turning with camera. My ping is 30 and frame rate 100. It’s like there’s a slight delay for everything I do. In Classic there is zero delay since I checked “reduce input lag” and it’s like night and day, can’t play retail anymore.

You probably have a bad PC then, retail is more demanding than classic and the worse computers will have lag

As I said, my frame rate is 100 and I experienced the same lag in Classic but “reduce input lag” solved it. Even when I turn graphics settings to the lowest in retail the input lag is still there. It ruins the game.

Why have only you reported this issue then? hence why i think its just an issue on your end. many players play retail and classic just fine like me

If you have Classic installed then go enable “reduce input lag” and see the difference yourself.

Many of those posts are like months old dude…if it was really game ruining im sure that more people would complain about it? Im just fine as I am but maybe write to support if the game is unplayable to you, cause I can’t relate tbh

Probably a lot of retail players have the lag but are so used to it they don’t know what it’s like to play without it. Go try Classic and enable “reduce input lag” and see the difference.

This isnt a thing on retail because retail no longer supports native fullscreen. You ahve only windowed fullscreen, that looks like gmae is on all screen but is still a window.

Reduce input lag option has no impact on a game in windowed mode. If you are experiencing something similar to input lag on retail, try find the root of the problem somewhere else.

Ah so me and all the other people who have input lag ever since “remove input lag” was removed from settings in 8.1 are just imagining it, got it.

No you are not. It got removed when fullscreen did.

From the looks of it it got removed when blizzard changed supported DX api to dx11 and 12 only and not lower.

600+ thread, it’s not just me

How about no?

Is it so much to ask to be allowed to play retail without being harassed for not playing classic?

do you have g-sync moniter, its super buggy and causes this with the new perma windowed mode on retail, i had to disable g-sync to get it to work normally.

I’m pretty sure I know what the problem is; no full screen mode in BFA. Nvidia is notorious for input lag in windowed mode.
