Blizzards cease and desist on Rexxcraft

My innocence is definitely done for.

Blizzard can’t stop all the rule34 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Do you honestly think that was a productive thing to say, when you could just have ignored the topic, or does everything have to be whinging about Blizzard and Raids and Ilevel and Nerfs? This is a general Forum to talk about the game… I mean that is exactly what it is for…so…let people discuss the game and associated topics?

Back on track, its a tricky one. I’m no puritan, back when I was a kid, before the Internet we’d go looking for ‘grumble’ mags behind bus shelters and in forests. Honestly, you’d think that was their natural habitat, it was bizarre like they were some furtive creature that naturally dwelled in the forest, and came out to die in the ‘Elephant’s Graveyard’ that was the back of bus shelters. Either that, or there was a whole industry of crack commandoes whose job it was to infiltrate forests and leave copies of grumble mags around for teenage boys on their dinner break from school to find. I don’t know, maybe if you ever saw them you’d notice a yellow exclamation mark over their heads…

Click on them and they’d give some profound quest text like “Hail Champion, if you want the adulation and respect of your peers, you must travel to a secret place near the river in this forest, there you will find a legendary copy of ‘Razzle’, bring it back and present it to the ‘Schoolboys’ faction, to increase your reputation with them…”

The Internet killed that whole industry, sad times…

Seriously though, I think, smut is OK, when controlled. You don’t want kids seeing it, and I don’t think the ‘Are you 18 Yes/No?’ protection is sufficient, I mean what happens if a 12 year old clicks ‘Yes’ I mean we were all children once, and what do you want to be seen as at that age?

A Grown up. So they’re going to click ‘Yes’ because being a Grownup is some sort of magic state of evolution when you can drive, smoke, drink, decide your own bed time, and not have to go to school. Oh to be so naïve and young again…actually no, it was rubbish, lots of spots and being nervous around girls… and having to get up at 6 in the morning for your paper round.

Smut is a natural thing. It interests us, because why wouldn’t it? I mean, it is a depiction of something that is incredibly pleasing to human beings, a natural and healthy thing.

But.

There does come a point where an artist, whether audio, literary or yeah, in a video game, has the right to go “Wait, hang on, this is my Intellectual property (Or ‘Ours’ in Blizzard’s case) and I am not cool with you depicting these scenario’s with my creations. You can’t just take someone else’s hard work, and bend it to a different purpose That isn’t acceptable in any other industry, so why do you think it is with my work?”

It’s a valid point, It -is- Blizzards Intellectual property, and that’s possibly the issue, not so much that it is smut, but more “Hang on, that’s our stuff you’ve just pinched!”

This has nothing to do with the game, this is borderline pornography and blizzard have the right to remove this stuff.

Dont defend this garbage trend.

Borderline?

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I think rule 34 is what makes our modern society possible. Without it men would have whiped each other out a long time ago (like we tried for thousands of years).
In my opinion all the conflicts in the world can be traced back to not enough rule 34

Tbh I don’t think this is as big as a problem as some people are making out here.

It’s pretty crappy of Blizzard to do it after 10 years sure but eh, there’s enough of it on the internet that at this point Blizzard is going to have an extremely hard time purging it and other people will just upload it anyway.

tl;dr y’all can live without WoW Rule34

They do have the right and that is fine  but my idea is if people didnt complain about it and it was hurting no one and it’s a known fact people watch pornography in their secret private time but when the minors get involved then it becomes a problem which is what I think it happened some minor must have seen this and the trouble started.

Did you even read what I had typed. Pro’s and Con’s, not Defending. Saying “Ehhh on one hand X, but on the other hand Y”

And yeah, It doesn’t seem to be borderline. It actually -is- pornography so the question is, is that ever acceptable? do artists have the right to say "Whoah, no, My creation, you can’t do this! (Personally I think they can and should). It’s hard (excuse the pun) because there isn’t a person involved, it isn’t like real life smut where a person is like “uhh, yeah, my body, my rules, and I’m OK with this” It is manipulation of images that as they are not a real person are actually ‘owned’ by their creators, who should have some sense of agency in how those characters are portrayed.

It has nothing to do with -this- game in particular, but it does have something to do with computer games in general.

I’m neither condemning nor supporting, I am just saying there are opposing arguments that both actually hold some water.
