There´s simply nothing to present @BC2024 because everything in the near future pipeline has either already been released or will be by then.

The screaming and whining of paying hundreds of dollars to attend Blizzcon “just to get a preview of patch 11.1 and nothing else” would be so epic it´s not even funny, even if it is the 20th Birthday of WoW.

Better to invest the time and effort into the ingame celebrations than face multiple class action lawsuits for holding what is legally afaik a trade show that arguably presented absolutely nothing of value. :wink:

I would have liked if they announced WoW being playable with goggles in the metaverse, but oh well. Next time then.

i reckon that they are now in microsoft umbrella that they will now make announcements more in the line of xbox showcase and other conventions that xbox is present rather then doing their own blizzcon

Thats normal after the last blizzcon failure.

Simply cause too little content for a yearly blizzcon.

Least for as grandiose they want their blizzcons.

I just trialled Apple Vision Pro goggles in a store and my first thought was: " omg WoW on this …"

No point in hosting a big convention when you have nothing to show. Both WoW and D4 have expansions right arround the corner, so its a bit early to reveal the next ones. Star craft is dead, and the unannounced survival game was canned. A new bi-annualy expansion for hearthstone is not really enough to justify a whole convention. Guess they could have some mobile game updates/announcements aswell, but last time they announced a mobile game at blizzcon didnt go too well.

It’s probably for the best. I much prefer getting news directly from the official website of whatever game I am playing.

Blizzcon was basically WoWcon, and given that Blizzard have announced the next 3 WoW expansions already, there really isn’t much left to reveal.
And like WoW, then Blizzard’s other games also just follow the Live Service model and have their expansions and updates lined up already.
And honestly, none of Blizzard’s releases – including WoW – are so big anymore that they warrant a multi-day convention. There isn’t that much oomph to it outside of a major reveal. Especially now that they’ve drastically scaled back their own eSport scene, which would usually culminate at Blizzcon with finals for each game’s tournament(s).
And Blizzard’s product pipeline seems a bit lacking after they cancelled their survival game, and the word on the grapevine is that they’re moving toward smaller game projects and mobile titles. Neither of which warrant a large convention of fans of the traditional juggernaut PC games from Blizzard.
And considering how Xbox showed off the Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred cinematic, I suspect the plan going forward is that Blizzard’s reveals just get rolled into Xbox’s presentations alongside their other studios, and then Blizzard will do videos and streams as follow-up that cover the in-depth coverage – like they did for Diablo IV.

I don’t think there’ll be more Blizzcon conventions. Ever.

oh, I just found one of the forum members at 1:21 into the video :dracthyr_yay_animated:

This. There is no point of doing a blizzcon with no announcements. It would just dissapoint everyone. I think they are putting it off for next year when they can announce Classic+ and a preview of Midnight for WoW so people can go insane and content creators hype a lot the content so the numbers can go up like crazy as It did after last blizzcon hype and possitive feeling

surely thats gonna happen. surely

Kentaro? :dracthyr_crylaugh:

I think it’s better to have BlizzCon every other year so you can make each one more substantive. The question to ask of oneself is… how much of the TWW story have we been told so far as “content” because personally I think it’s no accident that the thing has been said about Faerin and what she says about the mysterious Emperor of what she claims is her homeland. I think Midnight will happen in that place, and that Faerin will find herself in an unfamiliar place of darkness… Hmm, Midnight = Black Empire for real???

In case you don’t know…
ADP = after dark portal
BDP = before dark portal

Sidenote: It was during the events of the Legion expansion when we freed Xal’atath from the dagger, and the Fourth War took place in 33 ADP. We know from the soon-to-be-naga Azshara cinematic that the Black Empire was shown to her in 10,000 BDP. We visited Nyalotha (a portion of the Black Empire) during the Fourth War. Therefore, as recent as 33 ADP the Black Empire COULD still exist… is this what we’re going to in Midnight? If so, I’d rather find out in November 2026 to give TWW a long and meaningful storyline FIRST!

Sorry, Chris Metzen, if I guessed something about the Midnight expansion… but I know I’m going to be totally wrong anyway… :wink:

Yeah that was an unfortunate clash of dates.

They said they want to focus more on smaller events all around the globe rather than 1 giga event for USA, which I welcome a player from Europe.

They visited London since and comming to Germany soon, so they even hold to their words.
