In all seriousness however, the whole “dominion magic” thing isn’t something thats bothering me too much, given that I’ve long taken the school of thought that, in the wow universe, any magic can do anything when the story calls for it. Its obvious that the schools of magic are just window dressing at this point given that magic is shown to just do whatever main characters and plot require of it. ‘dominion magic’ is just a name for ‘when you use death magic to supress souls / do mind control / create patch 9.1 chains of dominion and not make anymore customisation options

Yeah. There’s plenty of dumb stuff in WoW that is genuinely gripeworthy but a lot of the time especially lately people go completely crazy over stuff that’s just fine.
This. Light, Fel, Arcane, Nature. All can heal/destroy/portal/teleport/power mechanical things/etc whenever needed.
Tbh this is why I found the arcane magic “schools” to be weird. They’re a leftover from DnD, I know, but they don’t really fit in with the current magic system/cosmology chart.
The magic system/cosmology chart doesn’t fit in with the pre-existing schools of magic.
