Blizzcon Virtual Ticket. What's the point?

I’ve been wondering, what’s the point in purchasing the Blizzcon virtual ticket this year?

I personally don’t see the point in buying the virtual ticket anymore because the in-game items will eventually become Trading Post rewards that you can get for free. I mean they’re giving away TCG items through the Trading Post, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t re-release past Blizzcon items using the Trading Post at some point in the future as well.

You can also just watch re-uploads of anything locked behind the virtual ticket on YouTube free of charge. I feel like you literally get no value from the virtual ticket anymore. I won’t be buying it this year because I feel very confident that I’ll just be throwing my money away at stuff I’ll be able to get for free at some point.

It will probably come back at some point in the Trading Post or (more likely imo) as a reward for people with a Prime subscription.

I suspect that they’ll also give away past Blizzcon cosmetics for watching the Blizzcon 2023 opening ceremony on Twitch in November

They haven’t added any previous Blizzcon rewards on the Trading Post, so is very premature to choose not to buy the ticket based only on speculation about something that could happen but never happened yet.

Even if they add Blizzcon rewards to the post, they still have more than ten years of rewards accumulated. What makes you believe this year’s reward could be included in the post in less than 5 to 10 years? They have included previous store and TGC items, but none of them are recent items to the store. No, they are the oldest ones, with which Blizzard has already obtained all the money they could earn.

Also, even if they add the reward to the post, it is still an advantage to have bought the reward. For example, this month, they have added a mount from a previous RAF reward and a new mount and pet. Thanks to already owning the RAF mount, I have been able to purchase the other two items.

The Trading Post is built so you can’t purchase everything, so any tenders spend on previous shop items are tenders you won’t spend on new items.

IMO buying it just for the ingame goodies of WoW isn’t really worth it. If you’re playing multiple Blizzard games and/or interested in watching in depth Blizzcon panels it might interest you.

Personally my interest in Blizzcon is at an all time low. I don’t really play OW and HS anymore and they don’t make new stuff for HotS, so my relevant interests are WoW and maybe Diablo, both rewards and panels.

Same here!

I don’t even watch BlizzCon despite having a VT. Unless I know it’ll have an expansion reveal.

Smart vulpera, do not spend any gold/money on anything blizzard has in wow, it’s all bound to become recipes or trading post items.

If you only buy the virtual ticket for the in-game reward (and worse, for the in-game reward for Wow), maybe you’re buying it for the wrong reasons. It’s fine for you, but if you’re that confident that Blizz will sell them on the Trading Post, don’t buy it.

I don’t think they ever will. While TCG were not internationally sold and by so not being accessible to everyone, Blizzcon ticket in-game reward are, especially since they sell Virtual tickets. Furthermore, TCG/Shop/Promotionnal item they put in the Trading post all had 10+years old of exploitation. To be fair, if someone can get the flying 2-person mount of Blizzcon 2017 (not sure), i don’t really care. I had 6 years enjoying it, while others don’t.

At one point the Wow community and devs will need to fix their mind on the exclusivity. Either you consider exclusivity is a good thing and you assume that a Mythic T-mog should not be accessible to someone who does not farm it on this difficulty (scalled) or you assume that nothing in wow should be exclusive ever, being from in-game challenge/Shop/Promotion/TCG/etc…

I want the murloc pets from all former BlizzCons, I can easily pass on the mounts and other things.

I honestly don’t mind those pets. I’ve bought them to see the developer interviews and previews.

That’s going to be a little awkward for me now though because everybody I know at the company have left. There are still a few I know of, but none that I know. So idk if I’m gonna buy it. Maybe.

Well if you’re that strongly convinced then you should never get anything unless it’s on the trading post I guess. Even armour sets and weapons get recoloured before popping up there. Just keep hoarding tender for years so you don’t have to “waste” anything like us other silly people. Laughing and pointing while going “I told you so!” years later will probably feel quite gratifying

the point is money

Eh, I don’t they actually recolor most of the sets - most have been seen within the files for years. I’m just hoping they’ll add the Green/Black/Bronze coloration of the Mage Cata Glad set that aint available (And no, it’s not the Elite set - that one was Red.)

I haven’t looked too closely into those since it’s mostly been Valarjar inspired trash from Legion, but for weapons at least I know for sure some of them are just recolours, like that crystal staff from TBC or the burning dagger from WoD. Though my point with that sentence was that even “normally obtainable” gear can end up there so he just let his paranoia wait for even that stuff to appear on the trading post.

That one is from WoD - however, it is made to resemble the one from TBC (like a lot of stuff from 6.2. Just like stuff from Tomb of Sargeras references T6.)

Those sets have been used by Valarjar aligned Vrykul in Stormheim (meaning, not the metal skinned guys). But I get your point.

True, and we do see what will pop up thanks to datamining weeks (if not months) before they get added as well, so.

There is no point.

You’re literally paying to to watch marketing and get some lol pixels.

I mean credit to Blizz for getting people to fall for it, but c’mon.

Yeah that is literally the only store mount I’ve ever bought…well technically it wasn’t a direct store mount but still. It’s nice.
