Blocking players

Not sure if this is the best place to post this question but here goes. It’s my understanding that when you block a player in game, that it blocks all toons they have on that Bnet account. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me.

The issue I have is that I wish to block a list of Bnet accounts but when I go in to the ignore option, it tells me the accounts cant be found so I guess the question is, how do I block a Bnet account in the game if the players is not in my group etc? Also, if it is possible, is it also possible to do it if the players account is not logged in?

there is an account-wide ignore? i always thought its just character-specific.

iirc there used to be an addon for that but not quite sure if its legit.

edit: i gotta correct myself somewhat. i think the addon was called global ignore or something like that and enabled you to ignore characters on all your characters but not the account itself. i dont think you can ignore peoples battlenet accounts as it would require their battlenet tag and i dont think addons can store such information.

Ignoring someone isn’t account wide, it’s character specific… why Blizzard hasn’t made it account wide is anyone’s guess, it would curb spam of remade bot characters.

My experience of that addon mate was that it only ignored them on the character that you blocked them on so if you logged another toon, effectively they can still bug you. I don’t think it’s been updated in a while either. Thanks for the reply though

I thought that too mate but when a friend blocked me by accident, I couldn’t speak to them on any toon and had to get them on Facebook, once they removed the block, all toons could message. I also very vaguely recall reading something about it maybe around two years ago but don’t recall the actual wording.

Ignores are character specific sadly, I ignored a boost spammer the other day and they were back on another character the day after so it can’t be account wide.

That is in game though not through bnet.

Same here. I believe if you have a toon on your Ignore list the bnet is ignored. And you will not be grouped with them via the random group finder. Nor will you see their listings in custom.

Global Ignore is still around. But that rather warns you if someone in your group is on the list. I doubt it works for the random group finder or the group listings.

You sure it wasn’t just another account mate as I have had that before too.

That sounds very familiar mate and I am sure that’s what I read too.

I think ingame /ignore and RealID/Battletag blocking are handled differently.

I suppose it could of been but with it only been the day after I would suspect same account.

I’ll see if they are about spamming on another character tonight, three accounts in three days would be insane, even for a boost spammer

The frustrating thing is that I have the Bnet tag, I just can’t seem to block it. I think it would be fair to assume that Dottie.

I can confirm the ignore is character only. Had a recent incident where the fella just logged a different toon and finished his sentence.

Tbh I’ve only ever blocked someone who was actually on my friends list before and that was a long time ago so can’t even remember how it worked, maybe they need to be online if they aren’t on your friends list?

I was thinking that too buddy but no real way to confirm it. :frowning:

Could be due to you having him on your battle-tag friends list.

Wish they would make the friends and ignore list global already and increase the limit quite a bit.

But seeing they have that battle.net crap, I’m thinking they don’t want to put in any effort into the in-game system.

At the same time I’m also baffled not more Add-ons offered this as a feature (global lists).

Sorry buddy, I don’t understand that comment. They didn’t block my battle tag nor I theirs, they clicked chat meaning to block someone else.

You and I both mate!

Can we ban everyone with accented letters on English realms?

I too wish we could actually block someone based on their bnet and their alts as a whole…

Not only that, I wish that when my Bnet is on Invisible (on those days when I am feeling absolutelly sick unable to socialise, I want to play WoW as a single player game in the moment) I want my WoW characters to be invisible in notificiations when i get online or in guilds too.
When someone adds your character and not the bnet, they can see whenever its online irregardless even if youre invisible.

Thanks.

Why would you do that? Pretty racist comment is it not? you think that all players on so called “English” realms are English? Don’t be so stupid. Also there is no such thing as “English” realms, don’t be so ignorant! Thinking about it, I should expect no less from someone that’s in a guild named as yours is!
