Blood death knight

so i feel i dont have my place ask blood dk in arenas players make me feel that way i heard alot of complaint in regard of blood death knight tank useless and pointless and the fault is always rejected to the blood death knight for the lack of damage it does what can you do blizzard to rearrange this issue shall we unallow tanks in arenas?

It is a video game, and a paid one at that. Play what you enjoy. If it’s tank, tank it up in arena. At the same time, embrace the fact that it comes with downsides. High rated tank players make it work because they team with top dps and healers, who can score kills. If you team tanks with lower experienced players and in a SS setting, it becomes very difficult to do well.
Most importantly is to understand your role as tank. Imo it’s very difficult to be a good blood dk. You need to read goed and dismantle them with peels, ams on team mates, key interupts, … you need to create opportunities by gripping people like or dragging healers away or …

So just keep at it buddy. Don’t listen to the toxicity!

There are two types of players who play tank in arena:

  • 99% are the ones who tried the DPS spec first (usually feral, fury, frost) and got destroyed arena after arena to the point when they decided “I’ll just play tank so they can’t kill me any more” and then they try to play tank as DPS and fail due to “low damage”. Most of these players remain at around 1200CR or so
  • then there are players who understand that winning as tank does not come from “big damage” but from the utility, peels, disruption, etc. These players can achieve higher ratings, but it’s really hard and very few manage to make it work

Overall, tanks are bad for arena, because they are either useless so you frustrate your team, or overpowered and toxic. Blizz can never get it right with tank balance.

if you play Blood, your role is to CC / root/ interrupt / set up
its not about dealing damage

you can hold a whole team down with Death and decay 90% slow, death grips and multiple interrupts

the issue is that Blood DK is very very squishy compared to other tanks , by design you are supposed to heal yourself
but in arena we have Dampening so its really really bad for Blood DK… thats the issue

i have tried a couple of 100 games as blood this season and i normally go for Deathgrip, strangulate and walking dead talents… to slow down the enemy team

if i was blizzard i would make Tank specs have alternative talents for pvp…

like gladiator stance from WoD where tanks could essentially become DPS but lose Tank skills

an example for blood dk would be ,

  • healing done from death strike reduced by 50% but death strike has a 20yard range and deals 50% more dmg
  • blood plague damage increased by 200% but heals 100% less
    something like that

Yes, this has been suggested a few times and would probably be the best course of action in the long run. This would require tanks to be made less “tanky” and have better support. Because currently you can only give them so much utility, considering they are immortal.

However, I don’t think Blizzard will go for it, considering how the Augmentation experiment failed in PVP. They couldn’t find the right balance for a support spec, so they gave up and had to nerf it to the point where people would actually stop playing it so that it doesn’t cause any more problems.

i think the opposite… because we have Aug evokers. pandora’s box is now open
they need alternate support classes so Aug doesnt become " BRING AUG or we lose "

i also think Tanks could be a refreshing way to bring new comps into PvP if they remove the " tanky" options and make them more DPS

an example would be
Gaurdian Druid, give them feral talents to use in bearform but reduce armour and Healing
essentially giving them a toolkit to CC and deal dmg whilst not being tanky
they wouldnt have stealth… but would still have charge, that would be the trade off between the 2 specs

Mastery would be different between feral and Guardian too. so it would keep each spec to its own playstyle
the trade off being Feral does more damage and has stealth
whilst guardian has more CC/ peeling options like Charge root , incap but has no stealth but does less damage than a feral
