Blood DK > Guardian in 8.2?

Hello!

I haven’t played seriously since MoP, and would like to return to tanking. I am trying to decide between Blood and Guardian. All of the YouTube videos say Blood is much better than Guardian, but I think that’s from 8.1. My goal is to run Mythics as high as I can. Did 8.2 put Guardians in a better spot compared to Blood DKs?

Thanks

If you have friends or Guild mates then Guardian can get you far it’s not a cakewalk but hey.

If you’re pugging the sad truth is to push keys it’s gotta be warrior or prot pala. I’m not sure how BDK is doing after 8.2 though tbh so I could be wrong but Guardian is still rough around edges.

Guardian bears are best tanks EU, right after Warriors, Paladins, Monks and DK. They are all still more popular (for valid reasons probably), we are just not that far behind in 8.2 as we were before.

There is a slight majority of players that do higher m+ keys who are Guardian druids, Than there are Bdk’s atm.
That is not to say that, that is the definitive factor for which one is superior.
I believe that Bdk’s have more utility and self healing in m+, though Guardian druid is not very far behind. and even then, is Guardian Druid more beefy than a Bdk.
Fact of the matter is, they each have their strengths and weaknesses.
It’s not enough to where you can point and say which one is better than the other.
Summary:

Bdk’s
Pros:

  • Undeniable great self healing
  • Good defensives
  • Great utility
    Cons:
  • Slow
  • Squishy
  • Low aoe dmg

Guardian Druid
Pros:

  • Beefy
  • Strong defensives
  • Rivals dd’s in dps
  • decent self healing
    Cons:
  • Lacks group utility compared to other tanks
  • Can feel very simple for some

This is how i see them compared.
But i urge you to play whichever one you like to play, and that doesn’t mean that you cannot play both if you really want to.
