Blood DK Leveling

I’m wanting to learn to tank as an alt and I’m really enjoying DK, I’ve been doing a few dungeons and just finding that I’m ridiculously squishy and I can’t maintain bone shield and build enough runic power to pool for death strikes. I feel like I’m having to use all my CDs off cool down on trash.

I’d imagine it’s not like this at max level, but does anyone else feel squishy af in dungeons and if so what level or spell makes it easier?

Im taking Blood Death Knight as my main, and well, im not sure if you’re doing Mythic or anything but atleast leveling it feels so so.
With a healer who is active I can keep things smooth.
Blood Plague up, with Blooddrinker incase I need extra health.

I’m just levelling so far, I just seem I’ve never got any form of mitigation as bone shield constantly drops below 7 stacks and my runes don’t regen fast enough

if u got looms then go full haste
blooddrinker might look good but the amount of RP u get in dungs from heartbreaker is far better alowing much much more DS.

can u post on ur DK so we can check ur gear/talents and mog (yes very important)

Won’t let me switch to my dk

i wen on my lvl25 DK, removed neck and trinket to have same haste as u

went smooth, try using heartbreaker talent instead of blooddrinket, this makes ur HS when ur ontop of DnD to give alot more RP per rune

also try to use 1 BB before DS and dont BB twice in a row so each DS gets buffed from hemostasis talent

It’s just some people don’t like going super full ultra meta pathway.

Maybe I’m just panicking then? I will try using heart seeker instead

before u had a talent that “forced” you to be above 5+ stacks of bones to reduce the cost of death strike but now its only available baseline at lvl58 so u dont need to have stacks too hight, 1 bone shield is enough tecnicaly.

as a best practice, just try to keep above 5 anyway, no need to cast marrow rend at 7 or 6

I noticed the same thing on my lv 45 DK going into the headless horseman encounter as blood. My level 50 dk could solo it quite comfortably without the requirement for a healer but I was extremely squishy on the lower level character so the scaling is definitely a bit far off atm.

I can tell you the scaling is awful on the blood DK, I do have max level BDK on horde side which I been maining for years.
I did made an alliance one out of boredom in prepatch to experience the Ally side of things.

I am currently 23 with the new blood DK.
Frost until level 20ish is just mashing howling blast and occasional frost strike.

Blood is awful, boneshield gives very little armor and 0 haste. Some mobs can insta gib me even with rune tap (the pale flowers in diremaul garden). Your only other defensive is AMS. Death Strike barely heals for anything and building runic power to it takes ages.

You are also slowest class Death’s advance is I think 44 and wraith walk is 40. Which mean that you will fall behind everyone as every other class got their sprints and movement speeds boost early.

In short, no you aren’t doing anything wrong, the low level as blood DK is awful. I leveled several classes in prepatch to max and this has been a miserable and painful experience.

As in every prepatch it feels like no one tested this. (from developer side)

After using heart strike instead of blood drinker I do feel like I’m not as likely to die, it can only get better. I feel DK isn’t the easiest to level with as a tank in dungeons as they seem to rely on latter talents and spells
