Blood DK - Single Button Assistant

Has anyone with experience tried playing with One Button Assistant? This is my first time playing DK Blood and I decided to play with M+ (6), and I have to admit, it’s going much better than I thought it would, despite my weak gear.

Could anyone with experience comment on this? How does it compare to DK Blood and other tanks?

I didn’t think I’d ever use this button, but I did, and I’m pleasantly surprised (DK Blood has a lot of skills).

I haven’t tried it and I’m not going to - but I can easily imagine it being quite decent on BDK. Because this is a spec that requires a bit more resource management than most other classes/specs in the game, and the single button assistant basically takes care if that for you - making sure you don’t overcap on runic power, death strike when you’ve taken meaningful damage, maintaining bone shield etc.

It might not be AS good as playing the spec well without using the single button assistant, but it also help you prevent most of the common beginner mistakes like not having runic power when you need to death strike to survive or forget to refresh bone shields etc.

In my experience it’s acceptable, but absolutely far from what I’d say is “good”

The damage is okay, but it struggles when it comes to knowing when to use Death Strike, which we all know is the bread and butter of the spec. It seems to prioritise building Runic Power rather than spending runes, and struggles with Death Strike healing. Otherwise, it’s decent. It’s a bit wonky when you’ve got cooldowns up though. It tends to waste the Dancing Blade cooldown if you’ve got it off cooldown by using Bonestorm/Tombstone for some reason sometimes but it isn’t consistent!

I tested it a bit in some Delves, and it’s usable, but not great. It does the damage rotation somewhat correctly, but I noticed a few things that will probably cause issues in dungeons.

  • Blood Boil is almost never used. This means it’s harder to gain quick aggro on multiple mobs, and we’re also missing out on various bonus effects from Blood Plague. On single target especially it can easily use 8-10 abilities before applying Blood Plague.
  • Cooldown usage is inconsistent. It will cast Bonestorm when talented, but not Tombstone.
  • It will use Dancing Rune Weapon on a single mob with 20% HP left, just because it’s ready.

It does a pretty good job with Bone Shield management, and making sure you don’t overcap runic power, but that’s pretty much it.

For casual content like Delves, LFR, world quests, etc., it’s perfectly fine. If you’re doing M+, you’ll probably run into threat problems on most pulls, because it almost never casts Blood Boil.
