I always tend to get stuck on names, even to the point where i sometimes just scrap the character idea and go back to what i already know. There are plenty of races i’d like to roleplay as i enjoy their aesthetics and lore a lot, but having to come up with a name often proves to be quite a roadblock for me. Especially since i really want to avoid any dots etc in the name.
For a long time i’ve wanted to start a blood elf, and i’m gonna do it this time but i’d like some help with coming up with a name. Right now i have this one, Velondris. I like the way it sounds but i found out after playing a bit that “dris” is a darnassian word that isn’t too uncommon in night elf naming which made me rethink it. Sure, the blood elf language is closely related to darnassian, but still.
Feedback is appreciated and if you’re an experienced blood elf roleplayers i’d love some tips/rules when it comes to naming!
Take a feather out of Lor’themar Theron’s book and try a less conventional surname, that being one that isn’t “adjective-noun” like “Silverbeak” etc.
It’s fun to come up with Thalassian sounding names based on, say, Welsh or Gaelic words. My celtic-inspired elf is called Enda Ciarnach, which feels elven without being part of the many “adjective-noun” styles.
