Sorry, the words I’ll use are maybe not the correct ones in english, but my game is in French and I cannot find a good translation anywhere …
Here’s the question : the tooltip for the Call of the Wild talent tells me that it will summon 2 of my “active pets” for 20 seconds, and then a random pet from my stable every 4 seconds during that time.
I cannot find anywhere a definition of “active pet”, am I correct when I think those are the pets I have “with me” as summonable pets ?
I usually only have three with me, one Ferocity, one Tenacity and one Cunning (to switch depending on situations), with two “free slots” just in case I see a nice-looking beastie to add to my collection, should I fill up my 5 slots with pets to maximize this Talent ?
I know that summoned pets, and the “second pet” from the Animal Companion talent cannot use their family abilities, but they do respond to Kill Command, will Stomp when using a Barbed Shot, and will both Stomp and with the Blood Frenzy talents the summoned pets will benefit from Beast Cleave during the 20 seconds of Call of the Wild + Stomp every time a new one appears …
But what is an “active pet” ? Quite basic question, I know, but I cannot find that particular definition anywhere !
You are correct active pets means the 5 pets you can summon without going to a stable.
But your question made me want to know this for my self what the ability seems to do is if you have less pets with you (tested with 1 active pet) it creates copies of the pets you do have.
In my example the only pet i had with me was a Kodo and it just made 2 copies of the Kodo.
So no you do not need to go and have more pets with you the spell is smarter then that.
Hooo ? Well, I was a bit too busy during the fights to notice those buff icons in my already really long bar, I usually use a Core Hound [The Kurken] most of the time (because I get asked for BL), my Gara when there’s another player able to BL and I’ll need more healing, and my Sarltooth (Undead Raptor) for PvP/when I need to go fast (like tasks in the Emerald Dream or the Rohart Feast).
[Yes, I collect “named” pets]
That said, I’ll try to pay attention to my buffs bar, just to see if those two icons pop up during Call of the Wild, it would be an added and welcome bonus, even if totally by accident !
I’m just repeating what I read last night on the hunter discord.
I’ve never even taken time to look into what the all passive buffs are. I just play with a tenacity spirit beast (for the extra HP, defensive and heal) unless I’m forced to get a ferocity pet out for BL.
Indeed, with my 3 usual pets, The Kurken out as my main Tank/Damage dealer, I have the standard “+15% Leech” of Ferocity pets.
When I launch the Call of the Wild talent, my Gara and Sarltooth come out, and I get the +8% total Health from the Tenacity and the +12% movement speed from the Cunning one, plus random pets coming out of my stables, plus the “randoms” summoned by another Talent (those are always “zone-themed” pets) … yes I did strange things with my Talents.
Only lasts for 20 seconds, but it’s indeed a huge boost !
