I find it unfair how some maps just heavy disadvantage some specs much more then others.
On Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks and Kotmogu (3 out of 8 blitz maps as well), you are practically forced to play like a bot in the middle of the map, disregard objectives, and never cross into any building. Any time of floor level change causes your pet to become afk for 10-15 seconds while they rp walk around the entire building because enemy FC jumped down or up somewhere.
You are getting trolled like the AoE mage farmers in classic are bug abusing mobs, forcing them to endlessly run around a small wall, then moving to the other side when they get close, repeat, repeat, repeat.
This problem also applies to a lesser extent to Surivival, but at least there you temporarily lose 20% damage not 80%.
I understand there should be some counterplay to pets, etc. But this is ridiculous, especially as many other specs with more dps can play the game fully on all maps, for example MM has zero problems blasting anytime anyplace with the “pet” being visual only.
Either make a talent choice node that teleports pet to attack like in MOP with damage sacrifice, or make pets jump down with me like it would make SENSE, or give it a 4-5 second timer for pets to appear near me after they are a certain distance away. You can now dismiss and resummon pets, but you are forced to stay stationary, and by that time, the enemy FC/your fc is already in another room, jumps again, you are never catching up homie.
Its hard enough that they get perma random cced in any sort of team engagement, so you are forced to play solo/base.
Not being funny but I don’t think you should be complaining as a Hunter. They’re one of the best classes to play for BGBs with their insane toolkit and DMG.
Didn’t read a single line, did you?
I did.
“BM hunter is useless on 3 blitz maps”
Factually incorrect.
I those same situations I described, pick any of the following: MM, WW, Feral, Rogue, Devoker. None of these hyper carry BG classes have any issues at all, everything from their toolkit works perfectly regardless of map terrain. They also have amazing toolkits, burst, etc.
How is my problem not a legitimate one? Sure, BM is in a great spot ATM in terms of raw numbers, but that doesn’t make the weird pet behavior a minor issue. It’s pretty major, and gamebraking especially if the enemy knows what to do to meme on you. There is no meme counterplay to the other specs I listed.
You are right. BM got nerfed both in damage and defensives very hard. BM almost has no burst dps since the nerf of Call of the Wild. At this point, pet cc/control/sight shouldn’t be a thing since the spec is weak enough now.
He has hunter phobia because of lack of game knowledge, don’t mind him. Playing priest and complaining about F tier BM, insane.
Damn can you imagine having to WASD back up to the second floor of twin peaks or wsg bases?
That sounds like a nightmare, i feel so sorry for hunter pets!
Isn’t that the class fantasy of hunter?
This will hardly change, you have this problem in every bracket. There are classes that are bad for 2v2 but better for 3v3 etc…
Idk, feral and rogue are in their own league. Regardless of map, they’ll have a role they can fulfil perfectly, S tier.
I can speak from devoker pov, while what you mentioned is true, deva is good in CTF and Kotmogu, cuz they are zug zug games and we excel at that. But we fall short on flag defending maps, such as AB or Deepwind Gorge cuz we are not that good on defending flags outside of some cds and trinkets.
By playing BM in a battleground setting your not only trolling yourself but also your team mates. Just go MM.
Sometime you should switch spec if you do nt like it
BM is extremely tanky and very good at doing objectives/defending. I wouldn’t knock it. Plus 1v1, it absolutely dunks on MM.
I actually have a Hunter. Still posting on your private level 10, how cute. #Insane
Lmao and you play a Hunter, how embarrassing.
Yes. All specs beat MM in a 1v1 fight. Even mages can do it. Some people say hunter should never lose to a mage but that is false. That shows MM needs a flat buff to aimed shot and rapid fire by 30% since MM loses 1v1 to everyone.
How can it be embarrasing to play a hunter when hunter has the most high ceiling skill of all classes? It is the most difficult class to master in the game. There are rank 1 hunters that have played hunter for decades and still it is difficult for them to do rotation and use their toolkit properly. When I see people play their class good (that is not hunter) I think they are just an average Joe. And when I see a good hunter I do think he knows what he is doing and a higher IQ than even Einstein. People that play hunter deserves the most respect.
Yeah, BM hunter is a spec that takes a huge amount of gameplay and skill to master.
This. There are certain advantages to BM that other specs don’t have, and I am better then MM hunters at general team harrasment, peeling off my FC, enemy FC chasing/killing in open field, base defense, and team fight damage even.
I do not want to switch specs, I feel like I am doing good enough as BM, and its definitely super viable at highest levels of play.
But this post was not about this, not sure why it was derailed. I am specifically talking about pet behaviour in those certain maps and situations, which is probably not what the developers intended, given the game is designed mostly around “flat ground room-size” PvE encounters.
similar problems to warlock demonology, in some maps it is very good and it is excellent in base defense and in cleave aoe in others (in the middle of eye of the storm) but the demons especially the imps always keep in combat and therefore in the maps where movement is needed it is contraindicated.
In the temple of kotmogu the demons are a huge problem.
Luckily to not have problems and have excellent performances both hunter and lock can play MM or destro/affli in blitz/ratedbg
Even an accurately landed hunter trap requires way more brain activity than every possible dh gameplay. Trust me.
Exactly this, and like the hunter situation.
Consider the imps and pets to be passive dots, only that affli can apply them to anyone on XYZ axis in LoS, while demo pets have to manually run to the target, maybe never even reach it.
Destro and Affli have no drawbacks in any situation, but it’s not like Demo has much higher damage on flat terrain to compensate. So there is no point in playing it. You are AT most equal to the other specs on half the maps, and much weaker on the other half.
Switching to the other specs is not a solution in a game that is supposed to be balanced periodically. Why not instead fix the issue, which would be extremely easy:
Talent like Blink strikes from MoP.
- Can be passive, and have 20 sec ICD, procs when the target is detected more then 40 yd away, only works while in combat for 10 seconds (to prevent sending pet instantly across the map at fight start), only works if pets are not rooted/ccd.
- Can be active. 20-30 sec cd. Teleport all pets on the target location regardless of XYZ axis, if not rooted/ccds
OR.
Teleport pets back to my character location.
