I’ve noticed a lot in Mythic+, that my pets randomly come back to me when I didn’t call them back. When I use Call to the wild as well, those extra pets sometimes do the same.
What’s the cause of this? Is this some sort of bug?
I’ve noticed this a lot more in DF during BGs. My pet will come back to me when fighting all sorts of classes, not just the ones can can drop threat.
I tested on a target dummy. Do you use “follow” a lot? To bring back pets. When you attack using a spell, the pets don’t stay attacking the target, you have to press “pet attack” for them to stay on the target. Because it stays on follow no matter if you use an attack spell or not.
I think that was the issue.

Yeah, this is a problem that occurs randomly when you use ‘Follow’ command of your pet, especially when you click it multiple times. Your pets charge to your target when you use ‘Kill Command’ and come back to you other times.
/reload fixes it but of course you can’t do it in the middle of serious content.
What they need to do is when you press any attack spell on a mob, the “follow” command should stop automatically, and change to the “attack” command. Bit silly how that doesn’t happen really.
Pets have been broken since BFA I think it was when you had to macro /petattack into every ability just to get it to do its job. Obviously you don’t need to go to such extremes anymore but pets have never functioned properly since then.
Yeah you’re right. It’s still doing it now and I pressed attack on the mob, and still coming back randomly. It’s so annoying and it’s ruining my DPS as a BM hunter.
This seems to happen alot when you change pets in dungeons, like going from tenacity to Fero pets before a boss to BL etc. The newly summoned pets seems to sometimes be auto-passive instead of on being on ‘assist’ like the previous pets. Pressing ‘assist’ again fixes this, but ive forgot to this countless times and gotten frustrated about pets running back and forth alot before i notice it.
Its even more annoying if you also use Mirror of fractured tomorrow, as the summoned guy will not attack either, if your pets are on passive instead of assist.

Yeah it’s irritating. It ruins a huge bit of DPS.
