I’ve noticed many pets have different abilities, and I was wondering which pet is the best for mythic+ or raiding. I’m currently using the Spirit Beast Gryphon you can get in Stormwind City, and I noticed it was lacking a damaging ability compared to the Spirit Porkupines (I believe they have bite & claw, the Gryphon only has one of the two, which I forgot). Now I was wondering if it made much of a difference, if I perhaps should get out a pet with Hero if we lack a class that has hero, for example. Should I focus myself on Ferocity, Tenacity or Cunning pets?
Well if u lack Heroism/Bloodlust in your group u should help out with your pet but Spirit Beasts are much stronger u get a decent def CDR + great healing spells and amazing Dispel of Enrage/Magic each 8 second ( amazing tool for M+ especially on ragging Affix week)
If you want more info regarding hunter pets then go ahead and look up wow-petopia(.com).
Has pretty much everything you need.
What you need is 3 pets:
- spirit beast (tenacity, overall top, has purge, heal and player def cd)
- bat / nether ray (ferocity, has purge and bloodlust)
- clefthoof / ankylo-smthing for outdoor (ferocity, they heal via leach and have def abilities to tank big packs)
Basically you should run with a spirit beast in M+ and raid and switch to any ferocity pet on the encounter if party/raid lacks other BL sources.
Bats / nether rays are not really needed as I cannot even remember when I needed both purge and BL at the same time (probably some trash fights in M+ but pugs like never use BL on trash)
Niche pets for some encounters:
- silitide for mythic Fetid (mortal strike effect + master’s call to insta-teleport to friendly target to decrease travel time from boss to add)
Thanks for a descriptive guide! ^^
I found 2 spirit beast to be easy tame: quilrats in Pandaria (they are always up but it’s challenge tame i think, u should be taming them without armor or smth) and Gara in Draenor (couple quests and some flying around, just google it)
Another easy spirit beast to find is the mana sabers in Suramar. I think some of them are normal mobs and can be found in different places.
